like a site? Or just in general?
I've seen a lot of people mention it at different times and I'm wondering if the Canon T3i the way to go for a first purchase into real photography or do you guys suggest something else?

Best way I can put it is try your best to find a mid-high-level to high-level camera.
No use in buying a cheap low level dslr only to decide that you wannna upgrade 6 months to a yr down the road. Unless of course your just ballin like that.
I dont own a camera, but Im interested

Whats your budget and what are you trying to realistically do with the camera?
Wouldt it be better to use that $$ to invest in quality lenses instead?
Cop a T21/T3i + lenses and learn. Then when he feels he needs that magnesium alloy body/faster shutter speed etc he can flip the body, upgrade to a 7d or 5dMark II for the full frame sensor and bring his lenses along.
Especially with damn near all the latest Canon body's having the same sensor. Not gonna see a noticeable difference in image quality.
