PSU can be competitive and go undefeated but guess what.....it doesnt count :pachaha: 4 years no Big 10 championship game or bowl game. I give O'Brien 2 years and then he will "resign" due to burnout or stress.Yall can say he is committed and all that but deep down inside he is looking for a way to get out.

The grace period is only this year I'm pretty sure, so you can't wait till your junior year and oh I want to play without sitting out a year.

I can see freshies and sophs leaving, junior and seniors unless you are a big star and can play right away eh

Starting is always better than rotting on te bench or playing special teams or nickel and dime packages

Starting is good but....who wants to start for 4 years and not reap the benefits of winning anything? The freshmen who come to PSU today wont be there by 2014 or 2015 (assuming their not NFL talent calibre). The Junors and Seniors will stay because they have an attachment to Paterno and they were his last recruits. They are blinded by whats going on.Once they come to their senses or Penn State goes 0-8 or something watch how they change. These new cats not so much. Plus in that conference.... Penn State will look like amateurs.Ask the RB on the squad,he knows whats up thats why he might be leaving for USC.

:shaq2: I know...gonna be a 6-10 year rebuilding plan most likely, I hope they let BOB do his thing and keep him around -- let him weather the storm.

But I'm talking specifically about the guys on the current roster jumpin ship..I don't see it happening in flocks like some people see :manny: a lot of the players have already been vocal about staying at PSU..Silas, Hodges, Hill we gotta watch out for. But again, :manny: we'll see how it turns out.

And there's always hope for guys like: Deon Butler Statistics | College Football at Sports-Reference.com and Matt McGloin Statistics | College Football at Sports-Reference.com who have exceeded all expectations after being walk-ons.

You lost me at McGloin. He's ass, bruh. No getting around that one.

I didn't wanna start another Penn State thread .. but I'm sitting here watching Coach O'brien interview with Reece Davis, and I cant help but appreciate this guy. I've got tons of respect for him for sticking through this shytstorm. He sounds like a genuinely good dude. I'm happy that a lot of players are stickng behind him and believe in him.

I'll be rooting for him.

O'Brien is a damn fighter that's for sure. As far as I know, only one reserve OL has defected, but I could be wrong cuz I'm not current on it. Kids see themselves as a family, can't see this going down as a total collapse.

Plus they know BOB can get them to the NFL. Nobody is gonna miss playing in the Meineke Car Care Bowl , plus BOB said he will try to schedule a marquee opponent at the end of each season to serve as basically a de facto bowl game.

I don't think the defection will be as bad as I am fearing it will be, but I'm not sure. Recruiting may be another story but I think current players are solid

Even if recruiting falls off a slope .. look at what Boise's been able to do with 'inferior' talent. Good coaching can makes these guys ballers. I hate to say it (cause I hate the smug fakkit) but look at D'Antonio at Michigan State also. He recruits lower rated players for the most part (no on purpose .. he just cant recruit for shyt) and develops them nicely. There's no reason BOB cant do the same. Granted, the scholarship limitations will be felt, they can still (at least) compete.
