Well its all the more reason to sign Desean because it fill that need. Ideally for me it'd be Jackson, Jones, mid rounder with size and hands, Streater, Moore, J-Ford on kick and punt returns. :ehh:

Keeps our speed intact, balances shyt out, and we wouldn't need a higher pick.

We don't have a 5th or 6th round pick this year. Only 2 teams have more than 1 pick in the 1st round (STL, CLE) and they have picks higher than our 5. This isn't looking good for us lol. Niners have the most picks in 2nd-3rd round.

We really need to sign Desean!

It's gonna be intresting how Niners are gonna keep all thier players plus this new draft class.
we won't. with that said, bowman will be put on IR, and two of our starting CBs are gone, as well as our starting C with no real replacements from the roster.
so we wont keep all our picks but it wont be so hard to keep majority of them, even with guys who didnt play last year (tank carradine, lattimore) on the active roster

Charles Woodson: Al Davis would have loved DeSean Jackson

aldavis.jpg

When the late Al Davis was running the Raiders, he had a type.

And Raiders defensive back Charles Woodson thinks free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson is definitely that type.

Via ESPN.com, Woodson told 95.7 The Game that Jackson would have been a perfect fit for the former owner.

“There is no question in my mind that this is the type of player that Al would bring in,” Woodson said. “You hear about the off-field stuff but I don’t think Al would concern himself with that too much. I think Al would do his homework. But I think he would take a serious hard look, and if there was an opportunity I think he would bring that guy in.

“DeSean can stretch the field, and we know how much Al loved having guys that can stretch the field. So I don’t think there is any question he would bring him in.”

The Raiders also never shied away from controversial figures, at least when they were good. There’s no doubt they could use a player of Jackson’s talent, and Woodson steered around talk about the reported off-field concerns.

“Bring him in, I think he would look good in the silver and black,” Woodson said. “Of course I know the business side of it, but I’ve watched this guy and what he is, is a dynamic football player. What they’re talking [about] as far as off-the-field stuff, I have no clue about. The team would have to do their homework as far as that’s concerned.

“But when you talk about bringing in a guy as talented as he is, and you have that opportunity, I think you take a shot at it. And I think where we are as a team, we need all the playmakers we can have, and adding that guy would definitely help take us to the next level.”

Jackon’s a little young for the Raiders to sign this offseason, but their need for a spark is desperate enough they might have a chance.

it largely depends on who we draft at corner. corners we had were decent but they were never the staple of defense (carlos rogers balled out in 2011, but that was 2 years ago and hes much older now) so we can improve in the secondary, which is really the weak link and eats off front 7 work.
with bowman gone for at least half the season, the defense is worse defacto, but if we hit on one or two corners, it has potential to be even better than what we had before next season.

but imo largely the defense effectiveness down the road (next few years) depends on whether or not tank can be a viable heir to justin smith and if we can hit on at least one corner in the draft. if we can do both of these (and bowman returns without any lingering effects), D will be good.

sorry for offtopic here, we can continue this in Niner thread if you want.
