Gruden has to reduce the route tree for Carr, everyone knows how to play defense on Carr by now. It isn’t rocket science. Carr is the issue.
If a nikka says they knew what you were doing based on your formation, you got way bigger problems than the qb. His playcalling had been suspect all season. This is what I'm thinking too. I wasn't a fan of the Gruden rehire, but I don't think he's the problem. I think Gruden gets better results with a better QB.
I wouldn't be mad at taking Jalen Hurts, I believe in these new mobile QB's. Imagine him and Jacobs running the option

He's made the shyt that way. There were a bunch of articles about it early in the season before they started playing weak teams and the narrative c, this is what he got. He wants a game manager, he got rid of the Cooper, lost AB, Waller ain't a secret no more, ain't nobody else with a damn I ain't got Carr, get him out of here. But this offense been trash. Carr at his best was airing it out to Coop and Crabtree, now Gruden got him LeBron James stat padding. It's both of them. Y'all know damn well the shyt would be way different if they had AB though. If you're working with a QB with a limited skillset, the formations and plays will become repetitive after a while.

Raiders aren’t getting the ball down the field
Before the regular season began, Raider coach Jon Gruden made it clear that he wants to get the ball down the field. On Sunday against the Chiefs, the Raiders did not get the ball down the field.
As noted by Vic Tafur of TheAthletic.com, the Raiders had zero passes on Sunday that traveled more than 25 yards past the line of scrimmage. Making that performance more glaring was that the opponent — the Chiefs — had eight of them.
“We called some shots and obviously the ball didn’t go down the field,” Gruden said Monday, via Tafur. Gruden acknowledged that Kansas City’s pass rush put a crimp in those plans. “It’s a little bit more challenging than just calling up shots.”
Right, but not a single pass thrown more than 25 yards down the field when Gruden was dialing up plays that called for them? It sounds like the kind of thing that could make Gruden wonder whether he’s got the right guy in position to turn Gruden’s wish into reality, especially if Carr doesn’t start finding a way to get the ball down the field.
This isn't the offense Gruden wants. He's doing the best he can with a QB that needs everything to happen perfectly to take a shot downfield.
I don’t see Gruden ever being a spread-it-out, all shotgun guy. He’s rooted in tough, hard-nosed football. Offensive balance. Having at least some of the offense with snaps under center. Carr’s best year — and only legitimately exceptional one — was in 2016. They had a suspect defense, but at least it got him the ball. The Raiders had a plus-16 in turnover margin. I suggest if the Raiders did that again, you’d see similar success. Gruden’s goal is to have a methodical, measured offense that takes a shot every quarter or so but controls the action through first downs and physicality. I don’t see that ever changing
Who is there to catch the downfield passes though? Williams has literally dropped every one, Foster not even in the gameplan any more, Renfrow gone, Waller blanketed.
Carr was trash when he did have receivers to go to the past 2 previous seasons though.
