I don't usually agree with Mark Schlereth but this morning he said the Raiders made a mistake not resigning their top 2 free agents. He called Rodger Saffold a lesser player than Veldheer and Justin Tuck a lesser player than Lamar Houston. He said Houston is one of most underrated defensive players in the league...that his stats doesn't show his true worth.

Nobody was surprised when players like Michael Johnson, Aqib Talib, Byrd and Albert got more than $20 million in guarantees. Not sure anyone figured on Saffold joining that club with a five-year, $42.5 million deal with $21 million guaranteed from the Oakland Raiders.

Yes, Rodger Saffold.

Saffold moved from tackle to guard during his Rams career (that's usually not a great sign) and there were reports that the Raiders want him to play guard, which seems insane for that money. Either way, Saffold cashed in. We'll see if he lives up to that deal. But on Tuesday, he was an enormous winner.

LOSERS
AFC West, aside from Denver: ...
And the Raiders, well, somehow the Raiders lost Lamarr Houston, Jared Veldheer and Rashad Jennings despite having $10 million more in cap space than everyone else. The gap between the Broncos and the rest of the AFC West is becoming a canyon.

We know these free agents are looking for bank and best chance to win the super bowl, they don't feel like we a contender (we could be :to:) so they will probably take less money to play elsewhere

If players don't want to come play here, normally this is a sign to management but apparently we are just . I still don't get why they overpaid a player where we could of resigned someone who was proven in this organization :snoop:
