The Bears, who were expected to be big-time players for pass-rush help in free agency, have added one of the top defensive ends available in the Class of 2014.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Bears have agreed with Raiders defensive endLamarr Houston on a five-year, $35 million contract.

Houston, 26, recorded 69 tackles and six tackles in 2013. He was the ninth-ranked free agent and third-ranked free agent on PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100.

Houston’s arrival comes as the Bears reportedly look to move 33-year-old defensive end Julius Peppers.

The Raiders have money to spend, and they’re willing to spend it.

After landing Rams tackle Rodger Saffold earlier in the day, they’re looking at more offensive line help.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets right tackle Austin Howard is visiting the Raiders.

Howard’s a solid run-blocker, and the Raiders clearly need multiple players up front. There’s a chance Saffold could still be a guard, but with the money they paid him earlier in the day, that seems unlikely.

Coupled with finishing a one-year deal for running back Darren McFadden, the Raiders are making an emphasis of being more physical.

Now if they just had a quarterback.

:yeshrug: i'm willing to give him a chance

its like we all forgot all the dumbass moves Al Davis was making....overpaying for anyone with an established name. Remember when he gave a washed up Javon Walker a 55 million deal...when his next largest offer was like 20 million :snoop:

I know we're complaining about Reggie now....but I still say it was much worse in 2008. shyt in '08 1/3 of our salary cap was taken up by 3 players....Deangelo Hall, Javon Walker, and :jawalrus:Russell.

It took us years to get out of that cap hell, I'm not so eager to spend all our money again. I'm willing to judge him off what he ends up spending his money on as opposed to what he's NOT spending money on. Lets at least wait til August.

But we're way under the minimum cap. We have to spend money. Why not spend it on your guys and show some loyalty. Why would a FA want to come here after seeing how they treated Houston and Veldheer?
