Poor William Regal. This is the ongoing theme of the last two or three weeks. Regal is like the world's most put upon single mother, on the phone with HHH about these awful children he gave her. One imagines him waving in that camera that goes right to Titan Tower like, "Look at these rowdy ass kids of yours."
I'm liking No Way Jose coming out and handling his business like he has been in the last month or so. He's a fun fellow, but he's not scared. Maybe he should be, but he's not.
I mentioned being leery of the MMA-ification of wrestling in the MYC thread, and the Sonya Deville match is the definition of that anxiety. There's a way to make grappling look smooth and pro-wrestling, and whatever this was - It was supposed to look 'legit' but it just looked tedious to me.
Whoever's doing Ruby's makeup is doing less, and that does more for her face. I liked her look this last two weeks. Also, super excite for Lorcan/Burch as a tag team.
Ohno/Itami was everything. Have one of the most experienced western wrestlers of the last 15-20 years on the payroll and waste him, brehs. This match should have been on Takeover. It has everything - physicality, skill, personal issues. Also, that facial expression on Drake Younger when Ohno hits the low blow. Low key hilarity.
Ember and Asuka hugging was trash, and I'm not sure this quick injury-inspired face turn worked for me. But Asuka has my best wishes on the roster, and it will be interesting to see how the women's division shakes out.
