I agree that Hollow should take a different approach. But how has Joey had a successful music career tho? I can't think of anything Joey has done besides not sell albums and pump it up. Joey is basically an underground mixtape rapper.

I get what you're saying because I was telling three of my friends about the battle coming up. The two girls didn't know who budden was and the guy did but just from pump it up. So yea as far as a mainstream audience goes budden has not been successful

But he has a cult following. I also know some slaughterhouse fan boys that go to every show, have every mixtape, t-shirt etc.

So it's not a stretch to figure Joey has made a decent living pushing his brand so to speak. Between concerts, club appearances, getting VH1 money etc I'm sure he's doing pretty good

He releases the music he wants to release and tours to a huge crowd every time out the gate. Doing so on your terms is successful.

comparing apples to apples, budden's singles have sold more copies than hollow's singles have youtube views. let that soak in for a second

the reality is all these battle rappers would kill to have budden's music career, shortcomings including. comparing And 1 players to Derrick Coleman/ Penny Hardaway is the perfect analogy.

You right but that's not what I said. He is signed to a label and releases his music as he sees fit rather than the label dictating it. He tours his material and was able to put on three other artist as well who at the time had a struggle staying relevant. He's successful and it was on his terms. And no I don't know anything about a gta save location running joke.

Hasn't done anything? He created his own staple in Mood Music. He got labels willing to back him on his own terms due to the following it created, he got 3 other artist back in the eye of Hip Hop consumers, he brought Eminem to signing his creation(Slaughterhouse), he's dropped memorable song after memorable song that had folks going crazy for months and changing how people approach their own songs(Who Killed Hip Hop, Ordinary Love Trilogy). Don't act like that just because he chose not to follow the mold. He laid out a blueprint of DIY just like 50 and Drake did.

Depends on your definition of successful

To me, he's successful because he releases the music he wants, that is critically acclaimed by critics and fans, still makes a ton of money doing shows, and has a very loyal fan base. That's successful to me. Is he Jay? No. But he's built a strong reputation in the industry as an artist and is very well respected by all his peers as an MC/lyricist. I'd rather that than say have a career like 2 Chainz or Nelly. Because 20 years from now, the music I dropped will still be revered and respected and I did it saying what I wanted to say, and made a lot of money. Not as much as Nelly or 2 Chainz, but I'd rather have respect and 6-7 figures in my account, than not leave behind any memorable music and have 10 figures in my account. It's all perspective.

I think Budden will have bars but its like nikka you NEVER battled before on this stage and youre facing arguably the best battler ever, minimum top 5, like hollow just arguably beat lux, who the fukk is budden in this battle shyt compared to lux? also this will still be the first time in the battle world (not records) that we heard bars going at budden so it will still be semi fresh. lets not forget nigggaz had saigon wit weak ass bars imo beating budden in their battle. the average fan at least did when I thought personally sai got killed on pain in his life.
