The year 3030
Episode 29 | "Talk Ya Sh*t" (feat. Jermaine Dupri & Shad Moss)
Happy New Year from everyone over at New Rory & Mal. Now that the holidays are over and we’re all back at work and miserable again, let's get the year started off right!

Rory & Mal catch up with Jermaine Dupri at his legendary studio compound while in Atlanta. They sit down and start to discuss JD’s early journey into hip hop, starting with his breaking of the duo Kriss Kross (16:42). He goes on to explain how he met the late Lisa “LeftEye” Lopes, and how he helped break the group that would become TLC (25:19). In the middle of his stories, JD gets an unexpected disturbing call from his protege Shad “Bow Wow” Moss, who insists on pulling up and joining the interview to get a few things off his chest (36:20). Bow Wow comes in and joins JD in telling the behind the scenes story of breaking his career, as well as elevating So So Def. JD (and of course Bow Wow himself) start giving Bow Wow his flowers for his career (1:11:06), and this leads into a discussion of what the blogs have against him that they won’t cover his current successes. This also activates JD’s urge to get his shyt off, who doubles down on his challenge to Puff Daddy for a Verzuz, and explains why he feels underrated (1:24:16). They also touch on other careers JD has broken, their opinion on aging relevance in Hip-Hop (and basketball), + more!

Does the new JBP do it for you? Energy there is still high from what I gather.

I'm asking because for me it doesn't anymore...
It can be ok depending on what the topic is but still not the same. For example, there is multiple best of JBP moments videos on youtube, i don't think you can make a compilation like that with Joe, Ice & Ish.

Also when they discuss music, i prefer Rory & Mal with Joe as opposed to Ice & Ish.

So basically people miss the old JBP? I knew it would happen. Well now you have two mediocre podcasts. Enjoy. I stopped listening myself outside of clips of JBP on YouTube.. I refuse to listen to the other one.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
I dont like their guest pods :manny: find them boring and pedestrian.

I liked their last two episodes before the holidays though. More lively and I laughed a few times.

Yeah...after watching Drink Champs interviews with Big Sean and not Anuel AA, RnM's interviews seem boring af.

I like them with the Whoreble Decisions girls tho, that's a great dynamic. Otherwise they come off as too cool for school. Actually, not only them, the guests do as well

Every clip I see of the JBP now the over laughing does it for me. Joe can say the most basic shyt ever and nikkas is jumping up and down wheezing laughing like prime Chapelle is talking. The funny moments just don’t seem organic at all.

For Rory and Mal it’s weird. It’s not an appointment pod like prime JBP was. I used to look forward to Wednesdays and Saturdays for a new ep. Now I’ll fukk around and have 4 or 5 of their eps buildup. When I do listen to it I actually do enjoy them. Just not enough to go out of my way to listen to them.
