I want Rory and Mal to succeed but they 100% need a 3rd mic. They’re just boring and don’t really share what’s going on with their lives. The skits and interviews have been great but it’s getting hard to listen to them just talk for an hour and a half.
I think they need a third mic and not necessarily because they’re boring it’s that Mal lacks depth in his talking points. He’s way too surface level. I feel like Rory has the ability to have a nuance discussion but he doesn’t have anyone pushing him to make him go there. They need another voice who has no industry connections and isn’t trying to be all in the mix but has personality

You don't really see ppl talking about them on Twitter or anything like that, though, at least not like the JBP in the heyday or even parts now.

I did think they would have a lil more social impact, tbh. But this thread isn't really indicative of nothing besides showing ppl here still care more about what joe has to say than these two

why's that?

The fallout of the pod and seemingly more ppl siding with them, including ppl in the industry.

Thought both of their ties would result in something a lil more felt with the JBP taking a big hit socially.

Still early, but I remember the chance, pusha, any guest resulting in more chatter online. They've had earl, belly, boogie and justice on and it's just been ehh.

Numbers still looking good and I'm glad for that. Just curious where they go from here.

if people are still watching, i'm sure that matters the most.

denno why you expected them to have some actual social impact though

I suppose, but views aren't the only metric that matters. Engagement matters and how long ppl actually watch. If they do cold openings and I watch that and click off, that's a view. Idk their metrics or anything and views seem consistent

Remember mal bragging about starting that snowfall vs the wire debate? I was expecting more like that

But I'm starting to realize a lot of that was dependent on joe and his topic steering

Not a bad episode but if I was Ice or Ish I'd prob be looking for the exit. Every time these dudes bring up a topic Joe acts like he's totally disinterested, and will only change his tone if Parks gets involved. Dude straight up wanted to veto the barber talk until he realized he could morph it into a large convo on the service industry. Showed zero interest in the phone data hack topic, despite tech shyt being one of the biggest topics in the country over the last year.

Those numbers getting to Joe, man. He sees this shyt faltering and thinks it's the topics. In reality fewer people are interested in three 40yo black dudes shooting the shyt. Praising black women isn't going to fix the numbers. They aren't listening and never will. This is about men...and they lost their "white dude" demographic when Rory and Mal bounced.
