We're in the post boom era of podcast.

Even Wallo recently said he doesn't suspect him and Gillie will be doing podcast that much longer. Maybe a couple more years.

There needs to be a thread but TikTok has made it pointless to listen to an entire episode of podcast

The most interesting parts of the pod will be cut up and put on TikTok

Tiktok might not be around much longer but regardless the cat is out the bag. The boom/bust period is here, and unless you're one of the top (white) podcasters like Rogan or [insert true crime podcaster] it's gonna be a wrap soon. I think Budden is fukked too.

A lot of the black podcast foolishly cater to fickle ass fanbases…. Like Rogan can just run his pod without all the extra ass bullshyt… but this is a whole other topic.

Every pod is chopping up their episodes and releasing clips in order to go viral which devalues the main product

It’s a reason Spotify bet on podcast failed and we haven’t seen big podcast deals since Spotify

I a gotta add that streamers have taken away podcast audience as well. Kai Cenet and AK are way more culturally relevant than Drink champs and Joe Budden these days

I wonder how much timeliness plays a factor. News move so much faster now. For podcasts with schedules it's multiple days before they get around to talking about the hot stories. Meanwhile streamers can jump on the same night or the next day and address whatever the hot topics are.

I think this is a big part. I know this site pretends to hate AK but his takes on current events in the culture are way more interesting than Joe Budden, Rory mal and other podders who are trying to protect relationships with who they consider gatekeepers

Yea the big money is gone unless you're on Rogan level.

For Budden and Rory/Mal, they probably have an older audience in terms of Patreon but I seriously doubt that's sustainable. There's so much #content to choose from, at some point even loyalty doesn't compel you to keep paying monthly $ for access to a Candace Owens interview.

That’s what I do now. I just watch clips or check the time stamps. I can’t do 3 hours of that shyt anymore. And I hate when they breathe and smack their lips all in the mic
