ever since i saw a couple episodes of that Don't Trust The...i thought Ritter would have ended up Harley Quinn.
but a much better looking actress got there ahead of her.

this role i know nothing about.

Watch this 4-minute video than:

Marvel's Jessica Jones is getting her own TV series on Netflix, based on the popular Brian Michael Bendis comic Alias. But who exactly is Jessica Jones? It's time for another Marvel Comics history lesson!

Krysten Ritter Cast as Marvel's Jessica Jones

The Breaking Bad/Don't Trust the B---- star will play traumatized superhero Jessica Jones on the new Marvel/Netfix series.

4 DEC 2014 BY MATT FOWLER

It appears that Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23) has nabbed the lead role in Marvel's Jessica Jones series - which is set to air on Netflix after Marvel's Daredevil.

Marvel hasn't made an official announcement, but a source has told Deadline that Ritter, who was one of the four actresses up for the role, got the part after finally beating out Warm Bodies' Teresa Palmer.

Krysten Ritter will play Jessica Jones.

Deadline is also stating that The Following‘s Mike Colter is almost a lock for Luke Cage, who will have his own Marvel/Netflix show after he's introduced as a supporting character on the Jessica Jones series.

Marvel's Jessica Jones, based on Brian Michael Bendis's mature comic series Alias, focuses on a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency.

Jessica Jones is being written and produced by Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter, Twilight).

Marvel just confirmed it less than a couple of hours ago brehs. Updated the story in the OP with:
Krysten Ritter Cast as Marvel's Jessica Jones

UPDATE: Marvel makes the casting official, along with revealing a new/old title for the series.

4 DEC 2014 BY MATT FOWLER

Update: Marvel has officially announced that Krysten Ritter will star in their Netflix Jessica Jones series - and that the show is now titled Marvel's A.K.A.Jessica Jones, a slight variation on the title the show was originally going by years ago, when it was initially developed for ABC.

"Krysten brings both the hard edge and the vulnerability the role demands," said Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, in the announcement. "We can't wait for fans to see her in action, coming to Netflix in 2015."

Krysten Ritter will play Jessica Jones.

"Krysten Ritter has the type of range, spanning the comic to the tragic, that makes for the stuff of the best Marvel heroes," said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel's Head of Television. "As Jessica Jones, Krysten will bring one of the most beloved new characters of the past decade to life in a way we know will delight her longtime fans and introduce her to many more."

Marvel's official description for the series reads, "Ritter will play Jessica Jones, first introduced in writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos' classic Alias comic series. After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City."

The press release also confirms that A.K.A. Jessica Jones, like Daredevil, will debut in 2015 on Netflix. Daredevil will launch sometime in May, so presumably Jessica Jones will debut later in the year.

Jessica Jones Star on Her Excitement for the Marvel Series

Krysten Ritter, the recently cast star of Netflix’s upcoming Marvel series A.K.A. Jessica Jones, is all kinds of excited about her new gig.

Krysten Ritter, the recently cast star of the upcoming Netflix series Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones, is seriously digging the comics her new show is based on.

While speaking to Cosmopolitan.com about her role in the new Tim Burton film, Big Eyes, Ritter admits she wasn’t a comic book fan before she was cast as Jessica Jones, but now she can’t put the source material -- Brian Michael Bendis' and Michael Gaydos' acclaimed Marvel comic, Alias -- down.

“I wasn't, but I am now reading the Jessica Jones comics and devouring them. And [I'm] hooked. I don't think I've been so hooked on something since Serial. So now I feel that way about the Jessica Jones series. I can't wait. I mean, as soon as we're done today, that's what I am going to be doing. I'm really excited about Jessica Jones. It's so f**king cool. It's so cool. I can't wait to watch it.”

Ritter had memorable roles on Breaking Bad and Veronica Mars before landing a starring role on Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23. In the Cosmo interview, Ritter also expressed her excitement at working with another female creative, Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (who wrote for the first four seasons of Dexter, before adapting the Twilight books for those blockbuster films).

“It's crazy, because I remember, like, six years ago, I was like, ‘I just want to work with female directors and female showrunners; there's none.’ And I feel like, since then, I've exclusively worked with women, which I love. I worked with Amy Heckerling, Kat [Coiro], Jessica Goldberg, Leslye Headland, Nahnatchka Khan, the creator of Don't Trust the B--, who is my idol and bar for anything funny. And now Melissa! It's a dream come true."

MIKE COLTER OFFICIALLY CAST AS LUKE CAGE FOR MARVEL / NETFLIX SERIES

Marvel's Hero for Hire has been found

22 DEC 2014 BY ERIC GOLDMAN

Confirming reports a few weeks ago that his casting was nearly solidified, Marvel and Netflix have officially announced that Mike Colter will play Luke Cage.

Colter will debut as Cage via a role in AKA Jessica Jones, which will star Krysten Ritter as the title character. Per Marvel/Netflix: “During the course of an investigation in New York City, private investigator Jessica Jones encounters the enigmatic Luke Cage – a man whose past has secrets that will dramatically alter Jessica in ways she could never have imagined.”

Colter recently starred in Halo: Nightfall and has a recurring role on The Good Wife, and has previously been seen in The Following and American Horror Story: Coven. While the announcement only mentions Cage's role in AKA Jessica Jones, it is already known that he'll be getting his own solo Netflix series afterwards, though no writer/showrunner has been revealed yet for Luke Cage.

Mike Colter will play Luke Cage.

Said AKA Jessica Jones Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, in the press release, “Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage. We're excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life.”

"Fans have longed to see Luke Cage brought and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel's Head of Television. "Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones, and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.”

AKA Jessica Jones will be the second of the upcoming Marvel/Netflix series to debut in 2015, after Daredevil, which just wrapped production. Following Jessica Jones will be Luke Cage’s own series and Iron Fist -- before all four characters team up in The Defenders series -- leaving Iron Fist the one hero left to cast among this new Marvel team.

That's the reason I'm booing. Ritter is funny and I loved her in The B in apartment 23 but she's just not whom I wanted so I'm tight
:lupe: I only watched the 1st season of that show. Is season 2 worth watching?

Yeah it got better and the first season was already kinda good. Damn shame what they did to that and happy endings
*Downloads Season 2 premiere*

I'm watching the Season 2 premiere right now....

:heh: They really got Busy Phillips out here to guest star & explain to The Dawson, why rest of the cast of "Dawson's Creek" won't do a reunion with him even though she was only on the last 2 seasons of that show.

:ohhh: She fit right into that scene. I may have have always overlooked or have forgotten that she does Comedy well. Makes me wonder if I should give "Cougar Town" another shot.
