The hip hop industry is weeding out the 'real' thug poets and investing money into manufactured metrosexuals like Kirko Bangz, New Boyz, and Drake

The thing is these dudes aren't manufactured.
They were just grinding doing their thing in the underground like everyone else.
There sh1t just happens to hot right now.
The New Boyz for example weren't any different than any other Jerk rappers down in LA, the stars aligned for them because they made a hit for some inner city kids to dance to. :yeshrug:
They aren't the product of a boardroom meeting but some kids partying. :yeshrug:

My 2 Cents:

The VMAs were most successful when Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock hosted, so they were trying to recreate that feel with Kevin Hart hosting. He did aite but it obviously doesn't compare.

I'm guessin 2 Chainz was supposed to perform Birthday Song with Yeezy as the surprise guest and Wayne was supposed to have his own separate performance. Just a week ago Wayne said "Yuck" was garbage. Obviously a last minute performance.

Alicia performance was a disappointment. The fact she jumped on the Young Money ship was :snoop: but salute for bringin out Gabby. However I would rather she brought out 50 and Dre for them to perform "New Day" rather than this. The song is better and it would've been an epic moment since Dre hasn't had a VMA performance since like '99

The Rihanna performance is a big commercial look for ASAP Rocky. I predict his marketing push is bout to be crazy over the next year.

Frank Ocean is about to be marketed as the future of R&B and even though his performance was subpar his talent is undeniable.

Mac Miller is the cornball of the century.

Samberg was speakin truth even though it was a comedy monologue. The sad thing is Lonely Island makes better hip-hop than half the "Best Hip-Hop" nominees

After letting Yeezy close the show twice, its only right they let Taylor Swift close the show. I predict within the next 5 years there will be some epic duet between Taylor/Kanye at some point. This shyt is all a marketing gimmick.

Damn we took shyt for granted.

I'm not even talking about hip hop in it's golden era.

10 years a go at the VMA's, the nominees in the hip hop category were Eminem, Nas, DMX, Ludacris, Outkast, Missy Elliot and such.

Performances were Eminem, Ja/Ashanti/Nas, Puff/Busta/Ginuwine/Pharrell/Usher and even Clipse with Timberlake.

No rappers did their hair and makeup like Drake, none of them changed their personality over night like Wayne or embarassed their entire genre like Nicki.

shyt is sad b.
