:trash: episode tonight. Trying to shoehorn 4-5 different stories into an episode is where this show constantly fails.

Jay is low-key one of the worst fathers in TV history. He treats that dog 10x better than he has ever treated a human being.

That stuff with Haley and Alex was completely unnecessary and not funny. I don't think any college interviewer, especially one from Princeton, would be that flippant and idiotic when it comes to the process.

Could've gave more time to the Claire-Mitchell story.

Only thing I laughed at was the Stepbrothers-esque picture of Phil and Andy.

Yeah, the Alex-Hayley storyline was under-served, but it was cool seeing Aya Cash from You're the Worst pop up as the interviewer.

The Asian lady with the cleavage at Claire's job :takedat:

Claire and Mitch: An underrated duo. Claire making gay jokes again. Struggling with the fact that Jay raised her as the son she never had so she's tough as hell. It's usually towards Phil so everyone laughs but she struggles with wanting to be liked. Mitchell getting to son people into oblivion after adopting a laissez-faire attitude and having everyone like him to Claire's chagrin.

Jay & Cam: Both losing it over their love for Stella. Seeing Jay always loving the dog but willing to give her up for Fulgencio. Cam killed it with the shirt and Jay was like "You got one for me?" It almost went over my head about the "French Me" tagline. Jay killed Manny: "You came out the womb stuffy." Hilarious.

Phil & Luke: Some actual conversation between them and not just hijinks. It's touching to see how much Luke really cares about his pops. Phil is a goddamn fool. "Yeah, you can pretend to be my son." LOL. Andy is great.

Alex was hella quick on her feet and I wanted to strangle Haley. My sister talks just like that.

@thenatural You crazy as hell. This last episode was dope.

Fantastic episode. Phil and Claire were exceptional. Claire really shined this episode. I love how Phil was having an affair with his wife. Very touching at the end.

Jay had one hell of an ego boost. Before Sonia was revealed behind the refrigerator door, I said "She's wearing fire right now." Turns out she had on a red dress. It didn't really sit right how Jay gave her a dog's chain but other than that, one hell of a story line.

Cam and Mitchell (especially Mitchell) killed it. They were sniping each other the whole time at their friend's house. That fish was terrible, LOL. He was going off on his maid too. Great stuff.

When Phil and Jay were cooking breakfast, they showed Mitchell as well. Does that mean that he is they view him as the "man" of the house as well? I know that he's the breadwinner etc but I've never seen it displayed like that as they usually clown Mitch for being soft.

They never fail on the Valentine's Day episodes and this wasn't any different. The Phil, Claire, and "Juliana" stuff was funny. They were finally able to make it work after all of the failed attempts. It seems like they have tried to cut down on Claire's "shrew factor" this season, which is great.

Mitch and Cam were funny as usual. One of their better "petty" episodes. Anders seemed like an a$$hole so I was happy they got their painting back. "Anders and Cooper" got a chuckle out of me.

Ed O'Neill killed it this week. He's done an excellent job with decent to mediocre material this season but he showed out last night. His partying on Manny's loneliness had me cracking up.

Thinking about it, this was one of the rare episodes that didn't feature any of the kids besides Manny.

Phil refusing to let Claire inside the house at the end was really funny.

Nice to see Rosa from Brooklyn Nine-Nine in a different role than what she normally plays.

Excellent episode. Had everything I like in a MF episode: pettiness and deceit all presented in the guise of well-crafted jokes lol

Nathan Lane killed it tonight. That was an Emmy guess actor nomination worthy performance. The barbs were flying every time he spoke. I laughed at every joke presented in that story. Elizabeth Banks did well as a toned down Sal.

Natasha Leggero as the racist, alcoholic a$$hole of a passenger was good. That's pretty much her stand-up routine so she thrived in it.

Nice to see the Dunphy siblings get a story together. It was succinct, and did the purpose. Luke playing a typical teenager is refreshing. That dude looks like he's 17 going on 30 lol

Claire and Phil's story was nice. They led you to believe that Claire was receiving karmic justice for accepting the 1st class ticket; and she did, but her rationale was sound.

Manny, Jay, and Gloria killed also. Jay acting like Garfield had me cracking up.

Gloria as the boss was especially wonderful. "You need to leave this house right now and come back with more respect!...And pizza." I know I rag on them for making Sofia Vergara a big ass stereotype, but she does well in the role.
