It's crazy how many MMA fighters have died at young age in recent years.
This year alone I can think of 3 off the top. Elias Theodorou, Rumble Johnson and now Bonnar. Two of them died of cancer, one of a heart attack.

Josh Samman, Kid Yamamoto, yeah this stuff crops up. It honestly amazes me that it doesn't happen more often. Guys like Court McGee who has the story where he was getting high in basement X and came to in apartment Y a few states over. Then there's the guy who just fought Paddy. He's a crack addict!
I remember on the TUF season 1 reunion, Leben said it himself, he was surprised that all of them were still alive. Himself especially.

RIP to Bonnar. His fight with Forrest at the TUF finale really did solidify my fandom for the sport.

When Jon Jones had that car accident he was still partying pretty hard the entire time.
BJ Penn barely trained for the fight where he fought on his tippy toes.
Also, Michael Bisping is a pretty nice guy. Would always go out of his way to say hi even when he didn’t have to. His trainer Jason is also really cool, smokes like a chimney.

i knew about all of these except anderson silva. silva from what i know is a father of 5. thats a lot of kids, and his family travels to the fights with him. maybe when he was younger? pride days?

He named his son Griffin after Forrest
Some of these folks are a wreck after the fight game. I met Don Frye a few years ago. This was months after his publicized alcoholism and suicide by cop attempt.
They get hooked on pain killers and alcohol man. It's a blessing to get out of fighting early and being able to keep your health.
