I completely missed that fight. If true that she was taken down but no punishment was handed then it's a regular MMA decision.

I remember GSP took down Condit multiple times but ended up looking like Quasimodo; he got the victory. Takedowns is THE reason MMA will never eclipse boxing (despite MMA fans prophesying this since 2000-2005). Takedowns/BJJ is an acquired taste, whereas throwing punches is human nature (babies are born kicking and screaming).

And when was the last time UFC/MMA highlights showed ... a takedown?? (all I remember was Hughes vs Newton & Rampage vs Arona)

I mean let’s be real in an actually fight most nikkas are wrestling/grabbing because they can’t throw an actual punch. But that’s neither here nor there. Shields lost to a fat Mexican. It’s really shouldn’t even been a SD because outside a few punches she could not escape the clinch nor work her way back up. She doesn’t have the pure KO power to actually change fights so this will happen more often. She’s supposedly boxing in December. She needs to make a decision on what profession she really wants to do
