Coker has completely fukked Bellator up, you would think a completely different person was responsible for Strikeforce.
I loved Rampage's first Bellator run as a fan of his, but I think it set a terrible precedent for the company. Even if he's one of the biggest names in the sport, you have the guy coming off of 3 straight UFC losses going in and winning your GP which makes Bellator look absolutely bush league (didn't hurt PRIDE when the same thing happened with Coleman though
). Then you have Tito coming in after winning just 1 of his last 9 fights and subbing your 50W-7L MW champion in the first round.
Those were both Bjorn's fault, but Coker definitely kept the ball rolling by keeping guys that were way too out of shape to be in a major promotion let alone headlining cards. Idk if it was pressure from the network since those UFC vet/old man fights did solid ratings, but it definitely came at the expense of the promotion's reputation.
Tbf the one old man fight I want to see is Fedor vs. Shogun in the UFC. Solely because having him fight any young/top HW or blown up LHW shouldn't even be sanctioned and because of what it would mean symbolically having Fedor fight there even just once as a send-off
. Wouldn't have high expectations but it's still the thought.
