Watching Hardy is kind of sad and just shows that MMA is really just a club sport that anyone with a ounce of athleticism can strive in.

Who else would he be fighting at this point of his career? :dahell:

I’m sure there’s some more decent amateur heavyweights out there than the jackass Hardy fought last night. Either of the heavyweights from last week’s DWCTS would have been better

Kinda contradictory thoughts fam; beating up a pair of cans doesn't prove he can thrive in the sport. The attention he's getting is the only thing separating Hardy from any number of local level Heavy Weights with KO power right now and that's purely off of his NFL career; he's a promising prospect in the same way that an absolute army of guys are until they move up to legitimate competition.

I guarantee he could probably beat someone like Lewis right now. I couldn’t say that he would do that in any other sport

If that were close to true, Hardy wouldn't have had to fight twice on the contenders series against bums. We haven't even seen someone change levels or friggin' pivot when he tries to trap them on the cage. We're talking the most basic stuff hasn't even happened yet to see where he's really at. This is good though, because as they build up his hype we can all cash-in betting on the first wrestler he faces.

He’s on contenders because he’s a name that drives views and it makes sense considering his level. Who the hell is going to wrestle him or pivot at HW? Lewis? JDS? His size and athleticism alone will take him to the top of division despite his limited skills/experience. What he’s doing to these guys I can easily see him doing to JDS, a fighter with poor footwork going backwards and cage awareness. I mean shyt we just saw someone like Ngannou going from homeless to Stipe in four years. And unlike Ngannou, Hardy is with an elite camp who will keep him level and not do shyt like vacation in Paris during training camp

Brock came in with size, athleticism and real accolades only to get tapped out the gate because he was green and underdeveloped. Hardy's striking is fast and powerful, nothing else. His head ain't moving because it doesn't have to, his footwork ain't tested because no one is using their feet whatsoever. Switching directions isn't complicated, so yes JDS and Lewis can do that...as can any other UFC or Bellator caliber fighter. Hardy COULD have answers to that ish, but it's all just assumed right now. Jared Rosholt >>> Greg Hardy until he stuffs a takedown and shows us he has a gas tank.

You are reinforcing my point. Brock made it to the premier org of MMA and wound up being champion. You cannot do that in any other sport. This cat not going into boxing and even reaching ranked opponents immediately let alone facing someone like Wilder or Joshua. And everything you saying he lacks doesn’t even matter, especially at HW level.

Brock was an all time great collegiate wrestler fam...he actually had a base in combat sports, still got tapped out and needed to develop as a fighter and wound up exposed as soon as the UFC added decent HW's.

Hardy hasn't beat a ranked opponent, he hasn't beaten an unranked UFC caliber fighter. He's beaten local circuit nobodies with almost no pro experience whatsoever. That's the whole point. When he actually beats an unranked fighter that could get a Bellator contract maybe we can act like he'll beat someone. But this is all just gassing a dude for knocking out a nobody.
