Didn't understand why folks were hyping up Hardy, she looked slow and unathletic in her first fight, and from the little I've seen of her in boxing I didnt think she was impressive there despite her record. Of female boxers making the transition over to boxing Amanda Serrano got the most potential to make an impact.

Yeah even Holm had several years of kickboxing under her belt. This Williams girl picked her apart with TKD/Karate 101.

Hardy looked like she never sparred with head kicks involved, she was eating them every which way.

Yeah dropping her head, didn't know how to check kick. You have to punch with these kicks or sweep/ parry them when blocking ( I'm a red belt in Tang Soo Do and brown belt in TKD ) and poor lateral movement.

Heather Hardy got her ass whupped. Gegard looked less than stellar in this debut and I thought he lost the fight.

Yeah Hardy got tuned up :francis:, only her 2nd MMA fight but Williams definitely impressed me with her performance.

Moose/Storm came down to how you scored the 2nd rd. Another example though of some underestimating Bellator fighters and thinking UFC fighters will make easy work of them. I think if Mousasi's right eye wasn't closed he would have controlled the majority of the fight though.

Williams was tough, output stayed steady and her demeanor is my favorite kind...bet her heart rate was under control that entire time. Hardy was boxing against kicks, elbows, etc. That ish never works but it's worse that she seemed to have no power on anything she threw. Williams took some punches but didn't have a scratch on her and it wasn't just jabs either. That ish was impressive.

I had Gegard winning the first and barely the second but I'm a huge fan of his so bias may be involved.

Neiman Gracie could be the heir apparent to Maia's game. He saw a commitment to takedown defense, so he just took the guys back standing...twice. He'll be hard to stop but it'll be interesting when he runs into someone strong enough and technical enough to keep the fight standing.

In a strange way the Hardy fight was like Holm vs Rousey. The more hyped person had a lot of holes in her game (in Hardy's case, practice against seasoned TKD/Karate/Kickboxing) and an inability to adjust. Williams knew not to stand and slug like a moron. Hardy ain't young either and she leaks easy too she will be food for people like her.

Williams knew from jump Heather couldn't hang. She didn't even respect her when she didn't touch gloves. Hell that girl barely looked like she broke a sweat. After the 3rd or 4th kick landed I knew she was fukked.

That's a dope comparison because it fits the context you lay out and puts the boxer in the other role to show how important skillsets really are. I actually had a convo with my bro and used a Holm example too, but it was based on boxer vs kickboxer so I was saying how Holm/Shevchenko is a more advanced version of this. Hardy actually landed a few kicks at the ends of combinations but she only went there a couple of times before going back to old habits and getting clipped. Same with Holm Shevchenko in my memory, Holm would have success but certain habits like blitzing and pivoting out kept getting her caught with at minimum a leg kick on exit.

How clean Williams looked was nuts. Hardy was getting beat up but she was attacking and Williams never seemed to stress it. Even her post fight interview was just like, "yeah this is home so I was cool" after her FIRST PRO FIGHT and up against a super hyped opponent to boot. I don't want to overhype the performance until I see what Williams does when someone wrestles with her or mixes things up more, but just off the mentality and the ease that she was throwing kicks at different levels to be unpredictable...I'm intrigued as hell!

And peeps on this board shyt on TKD :mjlol:

Kind of reminded me of early Machida in there. Catching peeps off guard with a TKD/Karate base.
