Woodley vs Maia is an intriguing match up because if Woodley was tentative against Wonderboy because of his "stand up attack style" I can see Woodley using the same Anderson Silva tactics to be elusive and keep as far as he can away from Maia. Strike and move, strike and move. Maia is gonna eat some to try and close the gap and grab him to bring him down which will make for a long fight for Woodley.

lol nah....woodley is gonna wrestlefukk and maul him on the ground on some Edgar vs Yair shyt if he has any sense. Maybe Maia can pull of a desperation sub , maybe he doesn't but this is not a good matchup for him.

Woodley is not going to the ground with maia no way, not only to avoid maia's jitz but to conserve energy. If you look closely to the 2nd fight with wonderboy he tried for dear life to get the TD and once he got it Thompson popped back up and Woodley never went for it again, why? Because he knew his wrestling would be a liability in a 5 rounder given his gas tank

His wrestling will only be used as D if maia is that brazen to want to take him down other than that it will be a stand up affair, trust me

Nah...I've never known wrestlers to be afraid of BJJ guys on the ground no matter their skill level. Whether woodley will wrestle him willingly will depend on how much he's fallen in love with his hands but I could totally see them being engaged in a standup clinch and woodley muscling him to the ground. I can tell by the way a non grappler like masvidal was able to fight off maia in dominant positions

Maia pulls into a deep half guard when he faces guys he can't takedown. He did it to Masvidal in the second and third, I suspect he'll do the same with Woodley. Shoot for a deep single and pull guard if need be to force a ground affair.

What's everyone's take on California's new 10point weight cutting plan, :patrice: I think they are overreaching with the 2nd weight check. Take tyron Woodley who has never had any weight issues and cuts to 170lbs no problem so because his fight night weight fully hydrated is 200lbs he should be penalized? I don't understand how UFC and bellator could be cool with this..

Took out TRT, ok. Banned a whole bunch of masking agents and supplements ok. You want to stop excessive weight cutting to protect fighters ok. What's that got to do with a fighters weight fully hydrated? If they can game the system without failing who cares? Do they want these fighters to be able to compete at a high level or not?

Ps rather than think of a 101 ways to make the fighters look like shyt they need to put this sort of emphasis on fixing the rules and judging

“It’s a blessing in disguise because I can’t fight anytime soon. I can’t exercise, I can’t train. My knee is giving me many, many problems. It was doing it in Thailand, it’s still getting no better. . . So long story short, what I’m getting at is I’m not going to be ready to fight anytime soon so again, that’s another reason why this plays into the perfect scenario for me. [Rockhold] has no grounds to talk. Some people have, to be honest. Yoel’s been there for a bit now. I understand that. Robert Whittaker is there and Gegard as well but I’ve got a fight booked and until I hear anything differently from an official source, I’m expecting to fight GSP.”

So Bisping was down to fight GSP in July, but is now too injured to fight Romero and wants to wait for GSP. You can't make this shyt up :dead: Bisping pulled this same shyt against Jacare. Called out GSP and Nick for UFC 206. When both match-ups fell through, he said he was too injured to fight the #1 contender Jacare.
