GSP vs Diaz would be cool
Why? Pardon my ignorance but what's the fascination with GSP facing a Diaz? Neither would/could submit him so once it goes to the floor it will just be a class in neutralization. And they (well nate in particular) sucks against technical strikers that won't be lulled into a brawl. I could see the want if the goal is to see the overrated duo outclassed but I have never understood the demand for gsp vs Nick diaz 2 or nate

Word is coker wanted Fedor to stay on the card and fight Oli Thompson but Fedor declined that fight
Wouldn't surprise me, with the way Coker jumped in (to reiterate that fedor was never informed about tito or chael) when John morgan asked would he (fedor) have preferred to fight a new opponent on short notice or were you fine not to compete, it seemed like he was trying to save (fedor's) face.. Everything about Fedor's demeanour and utterances just struck me as a dude that was relieved he didn't have to fight.

The Conor vs GSP fight is an interesting fight to me... GSP would really need to be on his wrestling bike because I think back to his fight with Johny before he retired... he went to hell with that south paw and I feel like Conor is technically a better striker than Hendricks.... I also think Conor would agree to a catch weight instead of fighting him at 170 more like 165 or so...

I think UFC also pushes this fight before Floyd.

Gsp was always the type to run away from a challenge so it wouldn't surprise me if he'd scraper his bid to be MW champion to face a lightweight, probably read about what is become of GDR and thought :whoa:I want the belt but not Romero

Me neither. GSP vs Nick was pretty much the end all be all of that matchup. And it went like I thought, GSP outmuscles nick to the ground and holds favorable position but can't finish

Derrick Lewis destroyed Browne on every level. I think Travis is still unconscious just from Black Beast's post-fight interview ethers.

And he was running around with a fake interim HW belt to boot. Dude is quickly becoming one of my favorites, completely predictable but unstoppable anyway based on heart and power plus he's one of the best interviews in MMA every time out.

Details about GSP's return:
  • The UFC made him a low-ball offer around last October.

  • Freddie Roach was key in resolving the conflict. (Information first broken by MMAFighting and confirmed by La Presse independantly)
    • When Roach saw that the negotiations were stuck. He proposed to GSP to help him out.
  • Roach contacted his own agent Nick Khan a good friend with the UFC brass and the new owner to facilitate.
    • Nick Khan was apparently once described as "the most influential person in sports you don't know" by USA Today. Khan took the lead for GSP's team at the negotiating table.
    • Khan works with CAA, the same agency that represents GSP, but never worked with GSP before this.
  • Two Khan helmed meetings were necessary after last autumn. During the first Dana made an offer that was again insufficient, but better and during the second they came to an agreement.

  • Although having a new team at the table helped, the biggest factor was the context: McGregor's distancing from MMA, Rousey's expected retirement and the general instability in the sport significantly increased GSP's leverage as one of the last bankable stars the UFC could showcase.

  • Roach hinted that the deal was for multiple fights.
    • One of the main items GSP negotiated was the choice of his first and possibly second opponent. Roach knows who they are, but has been sworn to secrecy.
    • Following this ordeal, Roach will be present for 80% of GSP's training camp and will also corner him.
    • GSP's first fight should happen next autumn.
  • "The most important thing was allowing GSP to get the right fights at the right time. It took a while, but we figured it out, and both sides are very happy with the deal. Everyone is excited and I'm very excited to prepare GSP for these fights" - Roach.
