Maia has been on a hell of a run and if he gets the fight to the ground, he has the potential to submit anybody. Yet, I'm leaning towards Condit as I see him using a lot of footwork to avoid the fight being taken there and he does have a solid ground game as well.

He didn't get the immediate rematch, Woodley is up next with Wonderboy most likely getting the winner. Probably didn't want to keep waiting around and beating someone like Mai puts him right back into the title conversation.

I thought he would wait for a Diaz rematch, Magny, or some other big money fight. Maia is the worst matchup for him. He won't stand with him for a min and Condit never had TDD. I don't want to see Maia on top of him for 15 mins

One contender is getting wiped away right here with wonderboy waiting in the cut. Carlos the better MMA fighter but Maia probably the better all around grappler. I favor Carlos slightly

Condit eat Lawler overhand like a scoobie snack. I doubt his chin is a concern. What is a concern is Maia relentless grappling

Why would Condit take that fight?

We know why Condit is taking it you should be asking why is Damian taking it dude really only has to take another winnable fight against a notable name (ie cerrone or hendricks) and he's set. Condit already had his title fight and is coming off a loss another here will just send him back to retirement. Maia is the one with a streak and is basically the unofficial number 1 contender, he's the one with more to lose here


Ps I can see why Jones wouldn't want Big John as a ref, the way he constantly warns him about his open palm stance I could easily see him deducting a point. Dude just loves thrusting himself into the fray. His comment at the start of the belfort fight was also pretty unprofessional
