I'd like to see Bisping's title defense streak numbers please, or just winstreak numbers compared to Silva's.
I'll be waiting, thanks.
(1) You are just picking a statistic that favors Silva, but that statistic is NOT a good one to compare fighters...
(2) Anderson Silva was given a title fight after 1 win in the UFC against Chris Leben...He won the title from Rich Franklin and defended it 10 times...40% of those title defenses were against 2 fighters, Rich Franklin (2) and Chael Sonnen (2)...
And then He was beaten CONVINCINGLY twice by Chris Weidman...
(3) Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen 1 is the reason why I started watching the UFC, and I fcuks with Silva (he is the reason I started following the UFC)...However, I am not going to let that blind me to his suspect record...
(4) Max Halloway is on a 9 fight win streak against Top 10 opponents, when is he going to get a title fight? Silva got one after beating Chris Leben...1 fight...Could Silva had gone 9 fights against all the Top 10s before a title shot? We will never know...
What is the point? Winning streaks and title defenses don't mean sh@t because opponents are careful selected based on the personalities the fans like and the story-lines the UFC can sell...Therefore, not all winning streaks are equal...
(5) Here is another reason why winning streak is not a good statistic in fighting...Chris Weidman CONVINCINGLY beat Anderson Silva twice...He is better than Anderson Silva regardless of what Silva's winning streak and title defenses indicate...
Silva can beat as many consecutive guys as the UFC selects for him and he agrees to fight, but when he faces Weidman, that streak will STOP...And if he faces Weidman first, he will not even have a 2 fight winning streak...
(6) Conclusion, I would NOT select winning streaks and title defenses as a measuring stick, because not all fighters get title shots the same way, and fighters with long winning streaks have consistently been beaten by fighters with shorter wining streaks...
The best way is to make the fight and see who wins...If we can't make the fight, then we have to look at the overall record in the promotional division...
Silva and Bisping have VERY SIMILAR overall records, therefore, I DO NOT believe that Silva is that much better than Bisping...I think match-making is a BIGGER determinant of winning streaks than the fighter's actually skill...
Case in point, you give Silva Weidman first, and there is PROBABLY no winning streak for Silva...He loses that fight 9/10 times...Easily...This has been proven...
