After Maia said Diaz declined the the Metamorsis grappling match I was joking with my brother that he musta gotten a big fight lined up for after his suspension like rematching GSP too. Not predicting that ish, but it'd be a big one and I do doubt GSP goes right into a fight with Robbie friggin' Lawler.

They both have established fan bases. Whether or not the hardcore heads would be excited isn't important, casual fans know both well and will tune in.

But they've already faced each other and the results were pretty conclusive the fight doesn't need to happen in this lifetime breh

Like I said, we know that, but casual fans will tune in. UFC is playing the ratings game and I think that's a big sell point. Honestly GSP could return against anybody and it'll be a big deal but Diaz and GSP with their beef will sell to casuals bigger than GSP against damn near anybody not named Lawler. I'd prefer GSP v Condit 2 because I loved the grappling battle.

If he wants a title shot, I'm sure he gets it, but the way he's been about coming back I think it'll be less about the belt and more about taking fights he really wants. Diaz is a guy he actually dislikes, a rematch with Hendricks could be some sorta vindication (even though he won on the cards) but I can't think of many others he'd be motivated to fight and coming back after a mass layoff to fight Robbie Lawler is a crazy proposition imo. Need at least a warm up fight, dude legit had to do a practice camp to see if he even wanted to fight again.

Nope and I am mostly apathetic about the whole Connor mania but this an unecessary risk, weight cut must be more brutal than ppl think

I bet the IV ban mighta played a role in that decision. I think Conor's too big for Franky so that'd be the fight I'd take to play it safe.
