Problem is he passed TWO blood tests around the same time he failed the less accurate urine test. So he passed the more accurate tests, but then a less accurate test came back positive and he was punished as if that test were decisive. I'm pretty sure he got punished for the WSOF fight, DUI and pleading the fifth at the hearing instead of answering any questions...but none of those are supposed to impact his punishment. The hearing was about his drug tests and only the drug tests, which makes the punishment ridiculous especially when you consider he passed the more accurate ones.

How do the NSAC drug testing regulations work? Are you allowed to fail one test? What is the NSAC history in dealing with repeat offenders? I'm honestly asking cause I don't know much about the subject. Bas talked about the other stuff in a regular court trial that stuff wouldn't matter but with these I guess it's different. 5 years is extreme but he shouldn't smoke weed if he doesn't want to deal with the consequences.

You're not allowed to fail a test, but the nature of this failed test is what makes it questionable. He passed two blood tests and a urine test right before the fight but then somehow his post fight urine test was failure.There have been errors in testing in the past, most notably Cung Le after the Bisping fight. So essentially, if he failed the urine test then there's no simple explanation for how he could have passed the more stringent and accurate blood tests let alone the prefight test. As for other fighters who failed multiple tests, I know Chael did but retired immediately after the second failure. Josh Barnett got his license revoked, fought overseas and then when he was trying to get reinstated FAILED AGAIN. I believe he only faced a year suspension (if memory serves). Big Foot is another guy whose failed multiple tests with no more than a one year suspension (again, I'm running off memory). The 5 year thing is unprecedented. 5 years is a career ender for someone who has the mileage that Nick has.
