Andre Pederneiras to step away from head coach position at Nova Uniao
By Lucas Rezende

@rezenluc on May 21, 2015, 10:00p 4

The head coach of one of Brazil's most famous gyms, Andre Pederneiras feels it is time to let go of his spot as he is unable to give attention to all of his fighters at the same time.

The man behind Jose Aldo, Renan Barao and many other successful Nova Uniao fighters will step back from doing something he's done for so many years: head coaching. Andre Pederneiras feels like it is time to let someone else take his place as the main trainer at one of Brazil's most famous gyms.

From now on, he only wants to coach at the gym and leave head coaching to some of his other students.

"I will still train the guys at the gym, I will still follow their development, but I don't want to be the head coach anymore. Some other kids at the gym will take over, each one will take a little group." Pederneiras told Portal do Vale Tudo. "I'm not saying I won't travel again, but that will reduce my trips almost to zero. Because of so many fighters, there's no way I can favor some fighters over others, which is what happens now and it's a bummer."

With almost one thousand fights under his name, Pederneiras doesn't know for sure when he will call it quits, but he guarantees he will still be cornering Jose Aldo against Conor McGregor at UFC 189 and Renan Barao in his rematch against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC on Fox 16.

"This year I will complete one thousand fights as a trainer, so I think that's a good number to retire on. I will still work as a manager for fighters, but at Nova Uniao I will be more of a consultant from now on."

So Weidman pretty much accused Vitor of being on roids for this fight at the weigh-in. Two things about this revelation. How did he possibly find out about it and if true, why wasn't the fight cancelled?

If Vitor ends up pissing hot that'll be twice this year that a fighter tested positive for a banned substance, and allowed to fight anyway.

The only "suspicious" things about the test were that Vitor's levels changed (which is perfectly normal for any man, especially an athlete in training) & that his test levels were higher than Weidman's. Anybody with knowledge of how testosterone works in the body wouldn't even bat an eye over the results, which is why it's a non-issue other than Weidman bringing it into play.

Sounds to me like he's getting an excuse ready in case he loses. Seeing how animated he got about tells me he's gonna get caught doing something silly and lose.
