the joe rogan podcast ethering shaub
Jesus....a few thoughts as someone that generally doesn't like Schaub and listens to a lot of Rogan.
- I didn't like Schaub after his "performance" at Metamoris II where he ran away (literally) from Cyborg Abreu for 20 mins. Since then I've thought he was entertaining at times on podcasts with Rogan and Callen. Plus his favorite move is the darce choke, which is also mine, so he's already less bad in my book. I also do feel for the guy, as he seems to be a good dude, cockiness aside.
- Joe seemed to be coming from a genuine place as a friend, and Callen seemed to be close to being in the same boat as an even closer friend, but obviously he wasn't going hard in the paint like Rogan was. It also seemed like Rogan really did not want to do this on air, and probably told Schaub several times that he would have rather said it in private. They truly are friends, and it was Schaub's idea to do it on the air.
- I think Rogan would say the same to anyone that he considered a friend
- For the negative. As a long time listener of the JRE, I do believe that sometimes Joe has a tendency to talk down a little bit to people, even his friends. Sometimes he'll chastise Redban, Joey Diaz, Bryan Callen, etc. When Rogan believes he's right, there's no stopping him. I'm not saying I think his opinion was objectively wrong here, but Rogan every now and then gives off a low key "I'm getting off on this" vibe when giving brutal advice to friends. Not sure what that means in the context of this podcast, but yeah.
Brutal to listen to, but also entertaining. I hope Schaub either goes on a run and proves everyone wrong, or if he gets brutally KO'd the next time after 1 or 2 more wins against decent opponents, maybe he'll evaluate how long he wants to do this for.
