The Nevada Athletic Commission issued Wanderlei Silva a $70,000 fine and a lifetime ban, but the Brazilian veteran doesn’t sound impressed.

Following the NAC hearing, the former PRIDE champion reacted to the news on Twitter.

"Those who are trying to take me down, come get it," Silva wrote. "War is just beginning, sons of b-----s."

"They will see that we’re the ones who run this s—t, bunch of playboys."

MMAFighting.com contacted Silva for a comment on his lifetime ban and fine, but the Brazilian fighter did not respond.

The $70,000 fine represents 35 percent of the fight purse Silva was expected to receive for his light heavyweight fight against Chael Sonnen at UFC 175 on July 5.

Silva’s attorney, Ross Goodman argued that NAC had no authority to suspend or fine the MMA fighter since he wasn’t licensed under the commission when he declined to do a random drug test in his gym earlier this year, and they intend to appeal the NAC decision.

Really glad Nate is back fighting again in the UFC, he always has exciting fights for the most parts and RDA makes for an interesting stylistic matchup. He's not the type of fighter that will just try to wrestle Nate.

Wandy gets a lifetime ban, lol.

Cormier gets 20 hours community service and 10% of his purse 10k.

Jon Jones fined 50 grand USD and must do 40 hours comm. service before he can fight.
what I don't understand is this brawl has happened in boxing many atimes I don't remember such severe penalties I mean community service? Community fukin service for 2 fighters brawling? Is this common practice or could this whole mess been avoided if zuffa paid that lets put this to bed money.

Ps the commission took it too far and I feel all the loss of sponsorship that has come from this is typical give a nig treasure but with an invisible (short) lead attached to it. But with the way things have been going mendes/aldo, bisping/rockhold :beli: and tito/bonnar. :mjlol: this hearing Will set an example and stop any copycat in their tracks

^^Yeah the community service had me like :dahell:when I first heard about it. The brawl didn't even seem like a big deal, but I don't try to apply any reason to the decisions of these commissions.

The community service was because Jones and his lawyers asked for that as a punishment before the meeting started, hoping they could get a lesser fine if he did that.

And Anderson is really signed with Nike. He's just as famous in Brazil as a Kobe Bryant is in the US.

you'll probably hear more about what Jones deal was on an mma site soon. It wasn't that much of a deal, and it's doubtful what he said in the hearing was the full truth (about why he was dropped)

What are your opinions on his talent?

I have nothing against the guy at all. Not a fan and i'm not a hater in any way. Same for most of the division. But i just don't see him beating any higher level guys. There's so many holes in his game and technique i see when watching him. I just can't see him beating top guys.

From what I've seen from him (his 3 UFC fights), he's a talented fighter. I don't believe he's going to terrorize the division like some believe, but he has the potential to crack the top 3. It'll be interesting to see how he does against Poierer, who's a solid fighter, but a favorable match-up for Conor.

To those who may have been worried about the Diaz/Silva fight:

"UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta does not believe the fight between Nick Diaz and Anderson Silva on Jan. 31 is in jeopardy, despite the legal matters currently facing Diaz.

Diaz, 31, is scheduled to appear in San Joaquin County Court in California on Thursday to face eight total charges stemming from two alleged driving while under the influence incidents."
