Five storylines to watch this weekend as Michigan hosts an elite group of official and unofficial visitors.....

Potential Verbals

We'll get this out of the way first. For the second straight weekend, we're expecting Michigan to add to their 2016 recruiting class. Last week, it was three-star tight end Chase Allen, who surprisingly ended up withholding a commitment for the time being.

Four players we're looking at this weekend (in an estimated order): wide receiver Eddie McDoom, wide receiver Donald Stewart, defensive end Connor Murphy and 2017 linebacker Drew Singleton.

McDoom went on the record as saying he would commit to Michigan this weekend as long as his visit went well. Michigan has recruited him heavily, so we expect him to pledge at some point. Stewart has already visited Stanford and will be at Michigan this weekend. Those are his two finalists. He could pledge if things feel right on the visit.

I'm putting in a 247Sports Crystal Ball for Murphy after I get done writing this piece. Michigan has always felt relatively optimistic in his race, and I think it's a situation where Harbaugh's dedication in spending nearly 24 hours with Murphy this week will pay off. He has no real timeline set, and I could see him ending it after this visit.

Singleton is someone we've viewed as a Michigan lean since the day the Wolverines offered him a scholarship. The four-star is one of Michigan's top targets in the 2017 class. We're 99% sure they're the heavy favorite in this one, and he's been to campus four times now.

Coffee for closers

Rashan Gary's return visit to Michigan will dominate the news this weekend, and rightfully so. He's been mentioned in the same breath as former South Carolina star Jadaveon Clowney as far as the level of prospect in high school. Michigan has thrown the kitchen sink at him, because they know how great he will be wherever he commits.

The moral of this story has remained: an unofficial this late in the recruiting process, with a fifth official next weekend not even set, is a great sign for Michigan's chances. Contenders appear to have come and gone by the wayside as the Wolverines have remained the constant.

The motivation behind this weekend's visit is for Gary to get an idea of what it's like to be a Michigan student. That was part of the purpose for coming up on Thursday and not Friday as he is expected to attend classes with some of the early enrollees. Again, these are almost always the kind of steps you see when a player knows where they want to go. Gary announced on Thursday that he will tweet a commitment on National Signing Day and do a video afterwards.

Fuller

Considering the positive position we believe Michigan is in with Gary, the most important visitor this weekend is fellow New Jersey star Jordan Fuller, whose Army All-American performance has pushed him into a borderline five-star prospect.

Michigan has been pitching Fuller as a two-way player for the majority of the process, as they see him as a wide receiver, cornerback and safety at the next level. In a lot of ways, they see him in a similar vein to Jabrill Peppers as someone who could potentially make an impact in a few different areas at the next level.

Ohio State is the presumed leader in Fuller's recruitment. Michigan may be the program in best position to challenge them for his signature. The staff has been preparing for this official visit for months (literally, as he waited until after the season to take them). His reaction will be interesting.

Back to Cali

As we reported three weeks ago, Michigan's optimism has grown in regards to becoming players for Concord (CA) De La Salle teammates Boss Tagaloa and Devin Asiasi. That's not implying that they're favorites by any means, but are established contenders for a pair of recruitments that appear to remain wide open.

In talking to someone close to their camp on Thursday night, Michigan's better chance may actually be with Asiasi. This is a change in what we've long believed, as Asiasi had Alabama and USC hot after him, while Michigan appeared like a better option for Tagaloa. However, UCLA is possibly the favorite for the jumbo athlete who would be an interior lineman on either side of the ball for the Wolverines.

The two arrived in Michigan on Thursday night. This will be each one's first visit to Ann Arbor and presumably to the Midwest.

Don Brown

Two prospects scheduled to be in Ann Arbor today that are big Don Brown targets late in the process are Joshua Uche and Elysee Mbem-Bosse.

Michigan may be in a good position to strike for the Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove star Mbem-Bosse, who hosted both Brown and linebackers coach Chris Partridge earlier this week. The vibes coming off of that visit were really positive.

With Uche, it's a three-team battle between Florida, Auburn and the Wolverines. Last intel I got regarding him was that Florida led, but that there's a connection on the Miami (FL) Columbus staff to Auburn and that the Tigers are right in the thick of it. That leaves Michigan. Anytime it's a kid's first experience on a campus like Michigan's, there are a lot of different possibilities. Again, Brown loves Uche's game and would love to add him as a rush linebacker/DE hybrid.

We're continuing to learn more about Don Brown as a recruiter as the cycle comes to a close. How these two recruitments end will paint a more accurate picture.
Obviously a huge weekend @satam55 congrats on Elliott I guess committing to a school for the 5th time:deadmanny:.His mother&him look brutal here lying to UT reporters faces showing his phone mom lying literally recruiting Asiasi to Michigan at the Army game just whole bunch of:wtf:.That exact reason is why I had no problem with the Swenson situation luckily we have a staff that never stops recruiting:ahh:
