Persians weren't fighting to free spartan slaves, but to expand their slave base and empire over the various greek city states.

Didn't say Persia was fighting to overthrow Spartan slavery... that's not how they operated. However, by the time Xerxes was trying to conquer Greece they had diversified away from a slave economy, while Sparta had not.
