Either Peters is trash or Harbaugh is incompetent. Take your pick. McCaffery skinny, immobile ass isn't going to be any better either

Thank gawd we didn't give Luke time:whew: We learned our lesson the last few years of the Cooper era. We learned the hard way:mjcry:
Why not go with Peters:manny: Harbaugh gotta stop being so loyal and find something that works at this point.
It never made sense to me why he wasn't starting from day one. We knew exactly what Speight was coming into the season and he hadn't improved at all.

If people want to use youth as an excuse, then why not start Peters day one so he can have more experience going into next year? This was a lost season from the beginning and now they still don't have a reliable QB with experience going into 2018. :snoop:

Speight does have a 5th year and we will use it unless he has to retire. In case, I’d rather not have anyone with no experience go into next season. I don’t even see all that in Peters but he’s better than a guy that threw 58 yards against Indiana. O’Korn shouldn’t play another snap

This is facts. If Michigan is still gonna place itself as a top tier program, it's going to be judged against them, regardless of youth.

This is the perfect three game stretch to start Peters and see what he can do. If he's trash, McCaffrey can play next year. Makes zero sense to play O'Korn again unless Peters if Shane Morris levels inaccurate. Even then, I would ride it out because O'Korn is already at his glass ceiling; Peters could improve.

This.

This.

And more this.

ANN ARBOR, MI -- Michigan has been embroiled in a quarterback controversy, at least from a fan standpoint, dating back to the end of last season, when the Wolverines lost the last three of their four games.

Now, with Wilton Speight sidelined due to injury, and backup quarterback John O'Korn leading the struggling offense, fans have turned their attention back to redshirt freshman Brandon Peters, the first quarterback personally selected by head coach Jim Harbaugh, heading into his second season as the Wolverines coach, back in the 2016 recruiting cycle.

But O'Korn hasn't been the issue with the offense, as the offensive line continued its inability to protect, and the young wide receivers have failed to get open.

After Saturday's loss to Penn State, O'Korn pointed to a lot of "coverage sacks" as being part of the issue, as the Nittany Lions 7th-rated pass defense blanketed receivers as they made their way downfield.

Given the circumstances, O'Korn performed admirably, making plays with both his arm and his feet, completing 16 of 28 passes for 166 yards, and rushing for 49 yards (which, due to 7 sacks, netted -3 total yards).

Harbaugh isn't giving up on the fifth-year signal caller yet, praising what he was able to do against second-ranked Penn State after he went back and looked at the tape.

“Won't go into everything, but managed the game very well," Harbaugh said. "Got everything communicated. Ran the offense very well. There was some duress and some plays we could have made, et cetera. Go back and look at it – that's what we're in the process of doing.

“He's – some good – kind of the theme for our offense – things we missed out there, some opportunities as well.”

But in his second year with the Wolverines, Peters needs to get ample time in live game situations. Harbaugh said on Monday that he considered inserting Peters vs. Penn State, but the opportunity didn't present itself.

Will that opportunity come against Rutgers?

Harbaugh won't tip his hand, insisting that O'Korn is still the starter. But, regardless, he and the coaches are doing their part to get Peters ready for game action, and he says Peters is preparing in-kind.

“Brandon's getting backup snaps," Harbaugh said. "He's readying himself to play. He's one play away right now. Every day, readying himself to be out there playing.”

Peters has only seen limited time thus far in the Wolverines season, having taken the field for the final series against Purdue earlier this year.

Not to be left out, Harbaugh also shared how true freshman Dylan McCaffrey has looked thus far, preparing in his backup role.

“He's progressing. He's number three, and getting less reps with the ones and twos. But doing fine.”

Michigan will take on the Scarlet Knights on Saturday at noon at The Big House.

We see the receivers running wide open with our eyes. Now defenses know JOK can’t get the ball to them but these writers can’t lie to us about what we see. Stick to making up stories about practice superstars

I think they don't want Peters to play behind this offensive line. Hopefully we can blow out Rutgers so that the young guys can get some PT. If Michigan doesn't rack up 500+ yard and 4+ TD this something is completely wrong with this staff. Also this staff should be taking 2+ shots downfield a game with DPJ with his 4.3 speed.

Is the line supposed to morph into five Steve Hutchisons next year? Get his ass on the field and see what he can do. :stopitslime:

Given that Cole & Kugler are gone next year, I don’t see how things are much diff without coaching staff changes. Since JBB replaced Ulizio the OL went from horrific to below average. Shouldn’t be an issue vs Rutgers. Newsome, LTT, Bosch and Dawson were suppose to still be here as upper class options but that’s college football and we gotta make due.
