Nearly a year after it was picked up straight-to-series, Freeform has finalized the cast for its forthcoming Marvel drama
Cloak and Dagger.
Picked up to series in April 2016,
Cloak and Dagger centers on the interracial romance between Cloak and Dagger, aka Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from different backgrounds who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart — but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
Underground's Joe Pokaski serves as showrunner on the drama from Marvel Television and ABC Signature. Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory also exec produce the series with Gina Prince-Bythewood (
Love & Basketball, Shots Fired) set to direct the pilot.

Kickin' It) stars as Tandy Bowen/Dagger.
Once a privileged little girl, Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event.
Aubrey Joseph (
The Night Of)plays Tyrone/Cloak.
Young Tyrone Johnson wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever.
Andrea Roth (
Rescue Me) is Melissa Bowen — Tandy’s mom.
She is the eternal optimist despite the struggles to adapt to her new existence. While complex and emotionally composed, her love for her daughter burns bright.
Gloria Reuben (
ER, Mr. Robot) is Adina Johnson, Tyrone's mom.
She invests every aspect of her being into giving her son the life she believes he deserves. But she props up and protects Tyrone so much she almost forgets to love him.
Miles Mussenden (
Bloodline) is Michael Johnson, Tyrone’s father.
He trudges through his desk job to keep his family safe and happy. He's a working-class father who does what he can to ensure his son will grow up to be a great man.
Carl Lundstedt (
Grey’s Anatomy) is Liam.
Liam is a salt-of-the-earth townie who operates as Tandy’s partner in crime while moonlighting as her boyfriend. But underneath his rough-around-the-edges appearance, Liam has big dreams.
James Saito (
Life of Pi) is Dr. Bernard Sanjo.
An emotional cornerstone in Tyrone’s life, they have an unusual relationship.
J.D. Evermore (
True Detective) is Detective Connors.
He is a contradiction of a man embracing an intimidating persona that overcompensates for a secret he keeps close to the vest.
"It's been important to us from day one that Marvel’s
Cloak and Dagger is about character and emotion above all," Pokaski said. "We’re so excited to have assembled a murderer's row of talented actors who can execute on that, and then some."

Cloak and Dagger is being
eyed for winter 2018 as Pokaski rewrites his initial script for the Disney-owned cable network. The series is Marvel's first for Freeform and comes as the comic book powerhouse is also readying a live-action
X-Men drama for Fox, has
