Last year it was "they can't not have Toni vs Kairi"
The CWC it was "they can't not have ZSJ vs Ibushi"
Been watching Vanessa Kraven live for years on the indie circuit, she can work, effective both as a resilient babyface and a bully heel (esp when matched with smaller opponents).
They did have Toni vs Kairi, that was a semi final.
I guess ZSJ/Ibushi might have happened if one (or both) of them signed a contract. Maybe they had TJ Perkins and Gran Metallik going over those two in the semi finals from the beginning, but I suspect not. Presumably when they're booking the MYC they already know who's signed and who isn't, so they can set up the brackets to ensure they get the matches people want to see without ending up with 2 people in the final who won't be appearing in WWE after that
