Kavita from India kicked her ass and they had her do the job..she hit like two moves to win? Lol.
I'd rather see Sonya pushed (she got a W against Zeda this week on NXT), but like I posted earlier, they could build a MMA stable if they wanted, with Baszler/Savoy/Mercedes (teammates in SHIMMER iirc) and Sonya. NXT has two male factions atm indeed, but never had a female one besides BFFs from 2014Shayna wishes she was like this when she still did MMA. I haven't seen any of her Shimmer stuff, but I have seen her Stardom stuff and she seemed perfectly fine in longer more competitive stuff for the most part.
Io tried to make her stuff look deadly.
As for what she could work on:
-Her punches and kicks need more sauce on them.
-She slaps her thigh for strikes too early sometimes.
-She moves like she's wearing really heavy boots and comes off unnaturally slow and stilted at times.
Very curious as to what happens with Sonya Deville going forward. Shayna has size, cred and association going for her. Plus she was booked better in this tournament than Sonya has been during her entire NXT run. From August of 2016 until May of this year when they changed her name, she was presented as this badass MMA chick yet lost every match she had. Sonya has a solid look, moves better and has the LGBT thing going for her, but she only appears sporadically and still hasn't really clicked with the audience.

Not that I think she sucks or don't see any potential in her, but in retrospect, Io's feud with Shayna is one of the best carry jobs ever. The GOAT had her looking like a 5 star prospect.
Having seen her work with normal humans now, Shayna still has a ways to go.
This was terrible and made me cringe. I guess we'll probably get a 4HW vs. 4HW match at WM or something, but damn, all of these women are corny as hell and the MMA girls are just awkward and I don't know who the hell any of them are besides Ron.
Bayley was like: "Even I cut a better promo than this"

Hours before Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler square off in the final match of WWE’s inaugural Mae Young Classic this Tuesday on WWE Network, watch Superstars and celebrity-athletes walk the red carpet at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, live on Facebook.com/WWE.
Cathy Kelley will host coverage from the red carpet, which begins at 6 ET/3 PT. With the Mae Young Classic Finale being one of Sin City’s hottest tickets next week, luminaries from all walks of life will be in attendance for the all-important event.
Among those expected to appear on the carpet and speak to members of the media are former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, former Team USA soccer star and two-time Olympic gold medalist Hope Solo, WWE COO Triple H, Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, The Bella Twins, Charlotte Flair and Bayley. Cast members of the hit Netflix series, “GLOW,” will also be on hand Tuesday for one of the most pivotal nights in the history of women’s wrestling.
Be sure to like WWE’s official Facebook account before Tuesday to watch live highlights from the Mae Young Classic Red Carpet as they happen, and don’t miss the tournament Finale later that night when it streams at 10 ET/7 PT, exclusively on the award-winning WWE Network.
WWE’s Mae Young Classic tournament has been a huge success on the WWE Network. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the eight episodes of the MYC were the Top 8 most-watched shows on the Network this past week.
Since the first four episodes were released the previous week, that means the first four episodes of the tournament had more views than this week’s 205 Live and NXT shows.
WWE has announced a ‘red carpet’ special for the Mae Young Classic finale will stream on Facebook this coming Tuesday, September 12th at 6pm (Eastern) live from Las Vegas.
Hosted by Cathy Kelley, the red carpet event will feature appearances by former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, cast members from the Netlix hit show GLOW, U.S. Olympian soccer star Hope Solo, Charlotte Flair, Stephanie McMahon, the Bella Twins, Bayley, Triple H and other Mae Young Classic competitors.
