Io's been overshadowing Kaori for most of her career according to most Joshi fans. Io getting sent back to Japan because of neck injuries opens the door for Kaori to not be stuck under Io in America.
Abbey Laith is Kimber Lee. I was struggling last night about that.

I've been a fan for a while, but I think I'm drawn to Piper/Viper because she's a "better built" version of my ex. Yeah I know...my L quota was met.
Vanessa Bourne must not want to hurt anyone because she has the softest pillow fists I've ever seen. She should stick to forearms. They'll probably change her top since she adjusted it every rip to make sure not a single areola was shown.
And yes, Kairi gets to shine without Io. Kairi fits better as well in my opinion. Io is still the modern GOAT though.

Helps that they put her with Mercedes who is a 16 year veteran. Probably worked her along the match.

Io Shirai vs Kairi Hojo
This is the last time we'll see this match in a Stardom ring. Their rivalry has been a modern day classic IMO.
Cliffnotes for anyone who might wanna watch these two before they arrive in WWE:
Io is the ace, an athletic beast, basically the female AJ Styles if he had Lesnar power and HBK arrogance added to his attributes. No one can fukk with her.
Kairi is the pretty one who started off as basically the joshi equivalent of a WWE diva, just hired for her looks. She took to the stiff joshi style like a duck to water though. She lays her shyt the fukk IN. Kawaii and demonic all at once
Both of them might legit be competing to see who can die in the ring first
They've basically been the #1 and #2 in Stardom for the past several years. In any other promotion, Hojo would be the top star because she's popular, charismatic (15 minute post-match Kairi in-ring promos w/ subtitles are among the best things about Stardom World), good looking, and one of the best in-ring performers in the industry. Only problem is, Io is just straight up better. Kairi knows it too, but bless her heart, she won't stop trying to dethrone the GOAT
I actually always thought that of the two, Io was guaranteed to get over immediately just off of her once in a lifetime athleticism, whereas I wondered whether Kairi's appeal would translate as much without her being able to cut long in-ring promos showing her adorable goofball personality.
I'm pleasantly surprised how much the western audience is already into her

I agree. She never had a chance with who they put her against though. You can tell by JR and Lita's announcing that Trips and co. are high on Salinas opponent. (Trying to not spoil it for everyone else).
WWE Mae Young Classic Round 1
Very clear that they went WAY too high with 32, at even if they cut the original field to 16, there wouldn't be enough to fill the field with top quality talent. Round one had more filler and talents that shouldn't even be looked at by WWE than both CWC and UK tournaments. I have about 6 out of 32 where I thought they were clear, good talents worth watching again.
Kairi Sane, Jazzy Alpha, Tessa Blanchard, Toni Storm, Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley. Maybe add Shayna in there, but for all her hype of being super talented super young to the business, she looked like she had never even been in a ring to me. Lita and JR are fukking garbage as a team, whoever pitched them as the announcers should be fired.
