They ain't ready.

They didn't like her tryout so she won't be participating.

411MANIA | Io Shirai Has Not Signed With WWE

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, STARDOM’s Io Shirai has not signed with WWE. Her trip to Orlando in late March to the Performance Center as part of WWE’s effort to recruit her, “didn’t go swimmingly from her standpoint.” Shirai is Stardom’s biggest star and Kairi Hojo (who has signed with WWE) was their number 2. Mayu Iwatani, STARDOM’s #3 star, is also reportedly retiring, so losing all three would have been a huge blow to the promotion.

Anyone think she tanked?

I don't believe that for bit. If anything they probably taking a step back after they stupidly put her tryout on the website. I think she'll be signed regardless.

Wouldn't read to much into that Io stuff either. If anything didn't go swimmingly it was probably the thing going on the website afterwards when it wasn't supposed to :yeshrug:

Meltzer also followed up that stuff talking about how Asuka used to be Stardoms top star & that wasn't anywhere close to true since she was freelancing before WWE. Far as anyone can tell he's the only one talking about Mayu retiring this year & considering how little Meltzer pays attention to places like Evolve (who are a top 2 or 3 indie), I have no clue how he would be keeping up with stuff happing in Stardom like that.

Yeah, Kana never wrestled a single match in Stardom. And I believe Kris Wolf said Mayu isn't retiring in a video on periscope recently. No way in hell Io screwed up the tryout in ring, must be related to negotiations or something.

Io Shirai, one of the biggest women's wrestling stars in Japan, has accepted WWE's offer to join the company, our Dave Meltzer reports.

Shirai, 27, is considered one of the top wrestlers in the Stardom promotion. She had previously attended a Performance Center tryout back in March, though WWE quickly wiped out all mentions of her in an accompanying article.

This would be a big blow to Stardom, with both of their top acts in Shirai and Kairi Hojo departing the company. Both had previously considered staying in Japan after receiving interest from WWE late last year, but it seems that both have now changed their minds.

Hojo announced her departure from Stardom earlier this month, and is expected to start at the WWE Performance Center shortly. As of right now, there is no start date for Shirai to come in.

More information concerning Shirai’s status will be in this week's edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
