Disgusting happenings on lucha this week. Some luchador called Angel o Demonio attacked his rival, Cuervo, with a fukking brick. Watch at your own risk.

Even Kurt Angle is talking about it.

So AAA has a channel on Pluto TV and I threw it on last night as a goof

:gucci:

They were showing a show from 2005. The first thing I was seeing was a Psychosis triple threat with 2 fat as hell Psychosises and Nicho, heavily clipped and mostly in slow motion, where they were having an ECW style brawl with blood and tables that appeared to be covered in Christmas decorations.

This was followed by a 6 man match featuring Juventud Guerrera, Mr. Aguila, Zorro, a mime/magician coming out to Marilyn Manson covering Depeche Mode, a stripper cowboy who came out to polka music. The ref was wearing a seethrough shirt with suspenders, and I legit didn't realize until after the match was over that it was supposed to be a tag match.

That was followed by Konnan coming out in a kilt, chainmail vest, and Puerto Rican flag bandana (despite being Cuban and pretending to be Mexican most of his career), and was announced as Charles Ashenoff and Konnan for some reason. Also in the match was Vampiro, who came out dressed like Tito Santana to Spanglish ska music that might be the worst thing I've ever heard. Shocker and Cibernetico were also in the match. Oh, and it was a 4 way dog collar match. Except it didn't appear that anyone was connected to each other, and most of the match at least 2 of the guys at any given time didn't have the dog collar on at all. At one point they're selling hitting each other with a wrapping paper roll, at another point Psychosis gives Konnan a fire extinguisher and you then can't see shyt for the next 5 minutes. Shocker openly cutting Konnan up without even trying to pretend he wasn't just straight up gigging him in the corner.

It was some of the most baffling shyt I've ever seen. :mjlol:

Sounds like AAA alright  let me see if I could provide a bit of context. I'll try as I dont speak Spanish but was keeping up with things back then.

The Psicosis feud was over rights to the name as Nicho was the original but left AAA for WCW and thus didnt own it anymore. It was admittedly fukking terrible.
The mime/magician :mjlol: was probably Charly Manson a goth character based on Marilyn Manson which was five years outdated even at that point.

The dancing Cowboy was most likely El Incotable... a cowboy stripper of sorts

And Konnan... *sigh* Konnan was in TNA with LAX at this point and I guess about to start his LONG running evil foreigner angle/stable La Legion Extranjera.

This stable had more than 40 members during its run, usually totalling upwards of 15-20 members at a time. (Kenzo Suzuki got a pretty big push during this time)

Konnan was playing up being a heel who hated Mexico and found Puerto Rico to have better wrestlers (looking around AAA at that time, I didnt blame him). This came into Ricky Banderas being brought in as El Mesias.

As for the Dog collar, Vampiro and Konnan has always had this weird worked shoot beef for reasons never explained, longtime rudo Cibernetico suddenly became patriotic for Mexico (despite being billed from Hell, which honestly may be near Juarez) and turned face/tweener, and Shocker was there for a return of investment of the money they were paying him to not work in CMLL.

Overall a messy time. Add in that in the very near future the founder Antonio Pena would die and chaos would start ensuing backstage as Konnan gains more power, it would get a lot worse in the years to come.

Did I miss anything @Wacky D ?

It was so fukking bad man. Every AAA show I've seen has been terrible, except I guess When Worlds Collide which was just mostly bad. I turned it on tonight and they were showing a TNA PPV from the Asylum years :mjlol:

I've never been a lucha fan or follower, but it sure seems like everything of any quality coming out of Mexico for years now is random indies and sometimes CMLL but usually indies and usually with dudes who have been at it for decades. I never hear ANYTHING good about AAA outside of loooooooooooooooooooooooooooolz.

- I tried to watch some matches from The Crash but they don't put any commentary over them it just weird watching matches like that. The footage looked good too. :beli:
-And I still can't understand how Psycho Clown is so over in AAA.

:russ: Yeah every complaint one could have for WWE, AAA has mastered first. Even their "greatest period" only amounted to Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero having a hot gimmick that they have tried to replicate for the last 24 years to incredible failure.

Even big moments like Dr Wagner losing his mask are laughable in retrospect. If Vince spoke Spanish he'd book AAA himself
