Watched The Grandmaster on Netflix - I knew it was another take on the Ip Man story, but hadn't gotten around to watching it. It had some beautifully filmed scenes and some nice moments, but overall I prefer the Donnie Yen series of films.

Yeah, it's pretty underwhelming overall. I still bought it when I saw it for cheap. It was the theatrical version only. (I saw the extended cut, so maybe the TC is better.)

8 Diagram Pole Fighter is easily my all-time favorite martial arts movie, but I want to see a remake of it with somebody using the original ending they had planned before the guy they played the "crazy" Yang brother died. But somehow that endfight still ended up being masterful.

This is probably the best release from the label 88 films!!!

the japanese version includes two unreleased fight scenes that will blow you away!!! plus it includes hybrid classic english dub!!

Yeah, I remember watching it as a kid and thinking pretty much the same thing. Didn't live up to the expectations I had for it.
