yall better not draft Machado with your 2nd round pick, I'm hoping he slides all the way down to 60th to us. Lakers are getting a PG, hopefully

My Pops Forever RIP
Baron Davis was at Dyckman yesterday doing some promotional stuff. Man, he was gimpy. I know he's coming off surgery, but he looked like an old man. He had a cane. He could barely walk. He did say he wanted to come back to NY and that he'll be around.

Al Iannazzone: Knicks may try to move up in draft as they have interest in Greek forward Kostas Papanikolaou, who could go from 25-45

The Knicks need to upgrade the guard position and add backcourt depth. But unless they make a big trade in Wednesday night's NBA Draft most of their work likely will be done during free agency.
As of now, all the Knicks own is the 48th pick. They sent their first-round pick to Houston in the 2010 Tracy McGrady deal, and they can't buy one. They gave the maximum $3 million they're allowed to add in trades per season under the new collective bargaining agreement to Dallas in the Tyson Chandler trade.
That doesn't mean Glen Grunwald, in his first draft as the Knicks' general manager, won't try to be creative and look to move up to add assets or players who can help right away.
The Knicks worked out more than 40 players.
Some prospects they could be considering include Marquette guard Darius Johnson-Odom, Missouri guard Kim English, IUPUI swingman Alex Young and forwards Tony Mitchell of Alabama, Khris Middleton of Texas A & M and Baylor's Quincy Acy.

I've liked Machado a lot. He's undersized, but he's strong & quick. He has good handle & can pass too.

Although i didn't like how he played in crunch time in that tournament play-in game though. Lost that big ass lead because the defense adjusted, and he did nothing.

I Got A Feeling We Stay Put At 48 But I Have Faith In How Grunwald Will Handle The Off Season, Even If We Go Into The Season With The Same Exact Team (Minus Diddy) I'll Consider It A Win

Amar'e Stoudemire will train with Hakeem Olajuwon this summer, according to those close to the #Knicks power forward. Mike Woodson arranged for it to help Stoudemire develop his post-game and make him more of a scoring (and passing) threat there as opposed to primarily in pick-and-roll. Story was first reported by ESPNNewYork.com. LeBron James worked with Olajuwon last offseason to improve his postgame, which was a major part of his playoff dominance, especially in the NBA Finals.

Baron Davis said last night he is aiming to return to #Knicks in 2013-14 after blowing out his knee in Game 5 vs. Miami. He is out for year and his contract expires June 30th. Unclear who would work with him during rehab but he might use #Knicks facilities. He emphatically said he wants to retire a Knick. The only positive is during his rehab, he won't be putting pounding on his disc.

Carmelo Anthony has lost 12 pounds since the season ended and an offseason that includes USA Basketball training camp and the Summer Olympics suggests he'll keep the weight off. "It's the best workout I can get in any summer," Melo said of the offseason that awaits. Donnie Walsh challenged him last year to get into the best shape of his life and Mike Woodson echoed that this year. With LeBron now out of the crosshairs, Melo faces a season of intense scrutiny.
:win:

I remember asking about Diddy coming back. Even if he's just relegated to benchwarmer status, the nicca blew out his knee trying to win for us in the playoffs. Knicks should do the right thing and give him a free ride next season. Hopefully, the roster will be solidified by then.

Amar'e has always had post-moves even though he never did work in the paint. Working with Hakeem is gonna make him unfukkwitable, and we don't have to worry about him dribbling the ball off his knee, or getting stripped on silly drives to the paint anymore.

Melo losing weight hopefully means a quicker (and more accurate) Melo early next season. No more blown layups :beli:
i thought we was shopping landry for a pick :noah:

The NBA draft takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday on ESPN.

When do the Knicks pick?

They have the No. 48 in the second round.

Why don’t they have a first-round pick?

Based on a three-team, nine-player trade between the Knicks, Kings and Rockets in Feb. 2010, in which New York received Tracy McGrady and Sergio Rodriguez. The Rockets secured the Knicks' 2012 first-round pick, which is No. 16 overall.

Is there any possibility to trade into the first round?

Highly unlikely. The Knicks' only trade bait before free agency starts consists of Toney Douglas, Jerome Jordan and Josh Harrellson -- and being that this draft is one of the deepest from picks 20 to 40, teams won't want to settle for average to below-average transactions. The Knicks won't touch the Big Three or Iman Shumpert, who has the potential to develop into one of the best offensive and defensive shooting guards in the league. Overall, the team will make most of its moves after July 1.

What kind of player might they get with their pick?

Here are five prime candidates who could be there at No. 48 (in alphabetical order):

1. Jae Crowder (Marquette) -- The consensus on Crowder is, there isn't an exact position for him in the NBA. But that's because he's viewed as a very good all-around player who has the size (6-6, 235) to play inside and out. He was basically a double-double machine this past season, and he would likely become a fan favorite in New York for his defense, intensity, toughness, active motor and unique style (he has long dreadlocks). Perhaps most impressive is that he has an NBA-needed quick release and range out to 3-point territory.

2. Kim English (Missouri) -- Some of the recent mock drafts had the Knicks selecting English (6-6, 200), mostly because the team needs 3-point shooters and he's deadly in that department. After shooting 36.6 percent from downtown two seasons ago, he improved to 45.9 percent as a senior -- one of the best marks in the country. He's money in catch-and-shoot situations, especially because he doesn't drop the ball below his waist during his quick setup (Ray Allen-esque). With his high basketball IQ and intense D, he'll be a solid role player on an NBA team.

3. Bernard James (Florida State) -- James is as tough as they come, out of all the draft prospects. The Iraq war veteran has an NBA-ready body at 6-10, 240, and he should be able to make stops right away. That's exactly what Mike Woodson wants from everyone, and James knows a thing or two about the last line of defense. In his last two seasons, he averaged about 2.4 blocks per game. James is already 27 years old, but the Knicks shouldn't care. Because they want to compete immediately for a championship, they need experience and maturity.

4. Darius Johnson-Odom (Marquette) -- Johnson-Odom is the most undersized out of this bunch at 6-2, but he makes up for this with his tenacity and strength (215 pounds). At the Nets' draft combine in mid-May, he was the best perimeter defender there. He was also the loudest one, calling out screens and back-picks, and aggressively getting up on guys and causing turnovers. He has some Shumpert in him. Offensively, he can stroke it from deep and score in the paint with creative playmaking, including NBA-like stop-on-the-dime moves.

5. Scott Machado (Iona) -- Machado (6-1, 180) says he's a top-three point guard in this draft class, and he's probably right. Last year he led Iona, a small Division I school, to the NCAA Tournament, while finishing first in the country in assists per game (9.9). His ball control is superior, and he passes well in traffic out of the paint -- a needed skill in the NBA. Machado can also D up (1.6 steals per game) and shoot the 3 (40.4 percent). He could drop in the draft since he's not very athletic (low-30s vertical). He also needs to work on speeding it up in the halfcourt.

The Knicks are coming off back-to-back wins in the second round (Landry Fields in 2010 and Harrellson in '11). Can they make it a third? Tune in Thursday night.

Miami's Mike Miller played against the Knicks for five games during the first round of the playoffs, and he believes they'll be a threat looking ahead. The sharpshooter just has a few suggestions for them, now that he knows what it takes to win a championship after two seasons with his Heat teammates.

"I think the more and more they play together, like I told people when they first put the team together and they started progressing in the right direction, just because you put a collective group of talented players together, it doesn't guarantee you victories, it doesn't guarantee you anything," Miller said Tuesday on ESPN New York 98.7 FM's "Stephen A. Smith & Ryan Ruocco" show. "It's sacrifice, it's playing together, it's understanding whose team it is and understanding what parts need to be clicking for them to be good. Once they figure it out, they'll have a real good chance."
