say breh. Maybe its because im a old head...i enjoy the pod way more these days. It has a certain substance it didn't have before. No shade but its like the pod was a adolescence and transitioned to like a young 20 year old. Weird analogy but yea. Like they still wit the fukkery but its a lot more balance wit mature shyt

It’s unanimously better than the more recent episodes with Rory and mal

but the show definitely reached its peak entertainment long ago

Budden defending Karen Civil tells you everything you need to know about him. All that "protect the creatives" shyt goes in the trash can the minute Joe's interests are targeted. And even funnier watching Ice and Ish, who presumably have no real contact with this bytch, cosign him as if they're in the same industry. Jokes...

Gonna keep this in mind the next time Joe starts yelling about a tech company finessing him.

The argument that Kendrick is an active rapper and jay z isn’t is funny

they both last released an album in 2017

neither one is active, people just feel Kendrick is still in demand

They're both active rappers in the sense that they're actively recording music with the intention of releasing soon. Flip side...Andre 3k isn't active. I wouldn't call Jay Electronica active either.

And of course Kendrick is still in demand. Dude blew up twitter with one message, and then had people going crazy off one feature - two, if you count Range Brothers/top of the morning. People want a Kdot album, and I'd argue people want a Hov album.

I'd take the convo in a different direction though and ask...does Kendrick need to re-establish himself as a top rapper, or do we automatically assume he's still #1 (or whatever you ranked him, 1-5)? Because I think we're at a point where there are a lot of guys who are great at rapping, in the conversation etc...and I feel like I need Kendrick to prove he's actually serious about rap. Yea he talked some shyt in that Family Ties song but I'm not sure whether his focus is on being the best rapper...or being the biggest rapper. Assuming the rumors are true about his album having a rock influence...is he going in a (old) Kanye direction of focusing on making the best album regardless of lyrical prowess or is he focused on out rapping people. I seriously doubt he's listening to Cole thinking wow I need to do that rappity rap shyt.

the convo was about who ate your favorite 5 rappers out now and Ice said he doesn’t feel like Kendrick is active and shouldn’t be included. I agree with that stance

it’s too much money around Kendrick for him to fail, the question will be has rap as a whole move on for Kendrick and will his new album have sustained success like damn or will everyone just show up the first week then go back to what’s current because this break has been absurd for someone in prime of their career and earning potential and it screams label issues.

go through the history of rap. Every mainstream artist knows this game is feast and famine and when you’re hot you need get as much as possible

From what Keem said, the plan was for him to drop last year but covid fukked it up. But even if that had happened, it would be 4 years after DAMN which is crazy to me...but that's how he moves. There were 3 years between GKMC and TPAB, but that didn't feel long since he was extremely active with features (and fukkery). Only a couple years between TPAB and DAMN.

I feel like this is probably the last album where he can do this. If he's serious about building something post-TDE you can't drop this album in late 2021 (or early 2022), go on a massive tour, and then not show up again until 2025/2026. It would make no sense. It's gotta be go time and I'd imagine him and Dave Free have a general idea of what the next decade will look like.
