I’m with Joe, What does the contract look like for a 500 million dollar advance and it’s crazy the label is paying that to get a return on future performance for someone that’s been mainstream for a decade.

Jay got 150 from livenation but that was logical
It has to be some massive 360 deal, no way they expect $500 million from stream/sales alone

Listened to the Park Knows Patreon. It basically sounds like Parks and Mal didn’t like the contract they had and didn’t understand the expenses that went into running the pod

Drake really makes people like Joe, Dram and them feel like they are Diddy when he gives them half a subliminal or appear on their gram or some shyt.

“Me and Push” :mjlol:

I remember when Drake filmed a place playing Pump it up somewhere and the whole Pod were giggling and talking about it like they won the nba
Nah Ice was heated about Drake doing that and talking about “he don’t fukk with us like that so don’t be joking around”.

Ice was saying he was hating, I think all of them were but they were happy about it and talking about it for longer than they talk shiny certain legends dropping dope albums.

Just cause you don’t respond with a thank you doesn’t mean that you ain’t happy as fukk :yeshrug:

I almost feel like it makes more sense than the Jay deal at the time. Assuming this is an all encompassing deal that includes live shows it makes a lot of sense. With Kendrick's tour on pace to gross about 80mil, Drake can easily do 120mil or more depending on how they do this upcoming one with 21. I assume stadiums, world tour, etc.

Add in the streams and you can easily see how this works out. I wouldn't be stunned at all if Drake drops another album late next year to set up another massive 2024 tour.

The Jay deal was for touring. Jay was so big in 08 from a brand perspective and had so many hits it made sense to bet on him to put together a couple of massive tours

Idk because his albums only say ovo and that he’s licensing them out to other labels and what not. No YMCMB or Universal stamps either

Few years after the fukkery of Prince's six album, 100mil deal.

Drake is def following that Hov model of owning the studio in order to reduce costs, using in-house producers, and recording nonstop. I'd imagine he turns his albums in, says I want to drop during xyz time, and people on his team already have marketing ideas before Republic even pushes play.

At Drake's level the label is mainly for distribution and handling the shyt an artist doesn't do, like tour/venue negotiations and planning.

Nothing worse than this pod when:

They have to talk about Diddy

They have to talk about Jay-Z

Or when Drake drops a new project. Entire pod just sucking this guy and his ghostwritten bars off. Disgusting.
