ICE: if you don’t own your Black culture financially, it ain’t yours. The white man owns hiphop now. :mjpls:
:camby:

Honestly I'll defend Harlow. The days of black (popular) culture being passed down are largely over or have shifted up by decades. When I was a kid I watched things my parents and grandparents watched - like the Cosby Show and Sanford Son. It was the 90s and yet I was still consuming old shyt. On Saturdays when we had to clean the house, my mom played Anita Baker and The Clark Sisters. I wasn't allowed to watch Fresh Prince because my parents didn't like how Will (the character) talked back to authority figures...yet I still snuck in episodes when they were gone. When I visited my grandma I read the Jet magazines...and later off jerked off to the Jet beauties of the week lol.

Classic black music, classic black shows, black shyt in general...that shyt is NOT being passed down to these kids now. So I don't expect a person born in 2000 to have the same points of references as I do. Black shyt to them is the Proud Family, That's So Raven, Chris Brown. And their kids won't know shyt about any of that because it's not being passed down.

I do agree partially with what you're saying. The way we were exposed to music was through our parents and older family. I would even say that BET, VH1 and MTV actually playing videos at one point exposed me to a lot of older music I wouldn't have seen otherwise. The younger generation doesn't consume music in the same way and so their exposure will be different. Adding in the fact that Jack is white it's not so crazy that he didn't know these 2 ppl were related.

Jack is too young for the Best Friend video, probably never watched Moesha and Brandy as an artist would've been entering a valley in her career by the time Jack was coming of age. Ray J on the other hand always has some relevancy to mainstream culture (ie, white) because of his connection to Kim Kardashian.

I'm late because I just found out how to post while this place is doing whatever it's doing but I just have to say that Ice's take regarding Kendrick and The Game/Joyner Lucas is ridiculous. Of course those 2 would be dragged for attempting that Nipsey verse. WHO is saying something is just as important as WHAT is being said. Neither Game nor Joyner have the credibility of Kendrick and have even been clout chasey in the past.

I agree for the most part, but it’s not even about WHO is saying something here.

Ice is bein intellectually disingenuous to make his point.

We ALL know every bar in Game’s verse would have a mention of another person in his contactlist making the verse WACK. That’s WHAT he would say.

Game can’t do what Kendrick did, it’s not his lyrical style as an artist

Ice was insulting the intelligence of the listener to belittle what Kendrick did.

the need to know pod has been a thing for quite some time.
Yea I knew that pod existed, but never knew it was them. :yeshrug:

Joe vs Ish on the condolences to YSL victims -
Ish was right. Joe took it personal because of his past. He/others wants to put their head in the sand to the potential victims of YSL and act like nikkas was angels, wrongfully accused.
Free Thug/Gunna, but we gotta keep it a buck. nikkas would be defending Nino/CMB.

Joe vs Ish - Na fukk what Joe talking bout. “They needed it more than me” is trash reasoning. If they need it that bad they can get a job.

Looking forward to the kdot album discussion. Pretty hilarious that the album is basically a collection of all the wild shyt they've tipped toed around saying, been too scared to say, etc...and he said it on the biggest platform...and his tour will be backed by Cash App lmao. Just admit these dudes don't want to pod and would rather just bullshyt for a couple hours.

Ice is okay sometimes but other times he's just weird. He admits to being a hypocrite in ways but it doesn't make it less annoying sometimes.
