Japanese voice actors are more expressive and it translates well to screen, whereas English VA can come across quite flat and monotone and not always matching the urgency of the situation. It also helps that you can say more with less syllables as well.

Yeah, and sometimes they're downright too expressive and can sound too whiny or too girly for the character that they're playing. Something that a lot of sub heads act like isn't ever the case. And this is from someone that initially preferred subs to dubs.

At the end of the day tho, it's no longer the case that every japanese va cast sounds outright better than english va actors. I'll still prefer subs in situations that make sense, like an inherently japanese themed show or game (like Demon Slayer), but there's definitely times when English cast seems more appropriate. I don't have any qualms with the english cast here and if one were to be going the apropos route here, they'd be going for chinese/cantonese/mandarin VAs, lol.

I think arguing that something is absolute best in every situation is a fool’s errand and it’s not my position, nor did I imply so. I feel like this discussion went left field needlessly. I simply watched someone playing it in Japanese and preferred it:yeshrug: I will be changing to Japanese VA and continue to enjoy the game.

Relax guy. I wasn't accusing you specifically, lol.

PC version is better but it’s not like PS4 is unplayable or anything.

Maybe it's just mine but a lot of the dialogue doesn't even play on PS4, loading is horrid and crashes often. When I played on PC I experienced none of this plus the game play was 10x smoother, graphics far superior.

You're right it's still playable but I know I'm missing a better experience on PC:mjcry:

I've seen side-by-side comparisons of all the versions. The PC side graphically was barely noticeably better than the PS4 Pro. Very negligible difference. Also, in my 80+ hours experience, I've only had it crash like 1nce or twice. The frame rate is definitely better tho, since it's at 60 and isn't nearly as stuttering. I imagine the load times are better as well (didn't show load time comparison). I think (hope) PS5 will fix both of these for the PS4 version or that they'll have an outright PS5 version.

You on the base PS4 model? I’m playing on a Pro and I’ve had none of the issues you mentioned except the odd frame rate drop.

The game should inherently benefit from the PS5 architecture even in BC mode but I think they’ve already confirmed a PS5 version:
