Was just about to post this. This content looks outstanding. I will say that I do wish that the characters and weapons weren't strictly relegated to the RNG factor and hope that some day, they incorporate either direct purchasing model or more feasible, less time restricting other ways to obtain that part of the content. I suppose that's just the caveat of making these sort of games that you play for years at a time, rather than just beat over the course of a few weeks/months.
I don't mind the drip-feed content of story and characters, just their modules of obtaining most of them. It's somewhat put me off the game for the time being. I'll come back to it with this and play it for a bit longer and then probably put it on hold again until the next big installment comes. I'd be a lot more willing to throw money at the devs if it wasn't totally RNG of what you get tho. I'll be damned if I put another dime into the game at this point, despite liking the game immensely, until they do that.
Anyone that have history in this types of games know that if they'll eventually open up the character/weapon methods to be less rng? Specific weapons being that way, while actually having weapon shops in the game and a robust amount of lore, exploration and elemental elements in its items and whatnot seems very counter-intuitive that you can't simply have most weapons acquired thru some sort of blacksmith creation system.
I'm not super familiar with gacha games but even if they did remove the rng in favor of a straight cash transaction to buy a character or weapon....it wouldn't be an amount you'd be willing to pay.
You gotta think a guaranteed 5* character (90 pulls) is around $200. If you lose the 50/50 it's $400.
Let's say your luck is decent and you don't go to hard pity. At the very last, it would be around $150, and $300.
Would you be willing to spend $150, minimum, on a 5* character?
And the weapon banner is even worse. Tectone spent like $1,000 and didn't even get
one Staff Of Homa. With the next patch if you lose 50/50 2x then you automatically get the 5* weapon you wanted....but even so, that's an insane amount of money.
This is also ignoring the fact that the wishing on any banner also gets you 4* weapons and characters, masterless materials you can use as currency, and 3* weapons you can use to upgrade other weapons.
So while I agree it would be nice to just buy what you want, you'd actually be getting
less for your money if they ever did that.
