I'm seeing Sargeant is getting ripped out of his seat for Albon. Poor guy. Can't wait for Williams to not score any points this weekend. :mjlol:

How do you not have a spare chassis :dahell: :mjlol:

That budget must be real tight

I think it's a combo of budget and cost cap.

When Vowles took over last year, he talked a lot about how bad the situation was when he got there. Mans said they didn't even have inventory software, so they didn't have a way to make sure everyone knew what they had on hand and didn't. The problem with stuff like that is twofold. It obviously costs money that they have in limited supply, AND spending on stuff like that counts against the cost cap.

They legit probably HAVE a backup chassis, but opted not to bring it in order to spend that money elsewhere. If Vowles says some shyt like "It was either modernize our steering wheel, or being an extra chassis to some of the more remote races" :dead:

It probably cost them a stupid amount of money to revamp that wheel. They were a good decade behind. They’ll be in a good spot come 2026 operationally but big budget decisions like having a spare chassis vs new autoclaves vs new design software will continually have to be made. They are running last year’s Mercedes rear suspension for that reason. :francis:

Yeah, man. Aside from the obvious example that it clearly doesn't stop a dominant team from being dominant, the overlooked detail of why the cost cap doesn't work lies with teams like Williams.

If Team A has an advantage over Team B that could be imagined across all aspects of the team as being worth $500 million, and both teams can only spend $135, the cap doesn't really help Team B. It just means that the difference in spending for that year could theoretically be no more than $135. That not only completely ignores that $500 million gap, but completely kills any option teams could've had to blow crazy money to make up that gap.

Obviously, this keeps the wealthier teams like Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari from being able to literally just throw money at their problems, but it puts teams like Williams (who, theoretically, after having been acquired a few years back, should actually have more money to spend than they've had in a while) in a spot where they have to make tough decisions with potential consequences like we're seeing this weekend in order spend that money in areas in disrepair that you don't immediately see on track.

Mercedes doing a two lap cool down strategy :jbhmm:

Their strategy somehow always leaves their drivers a lap short on the track and struggling to get out of Q1 :mindblown:

A few teams were on double cools with improvements on the second run. Lewis was within a tenth on that last run until he went deep into the 2nd to last turn.

Seems like they went high on downforce to combat their overall lack of downforce. Car doesn't even sound like it's deploying energy on the straights and barely a change in engine note with DRS on. Tomorrow is going to be a continuation of this 3 year long shyt show.

Car is a complete piece of shyt, no way Verstappens leave RB for Merc no matter how much they hate Horner.
