Damn didn't think Lewis wanted to go there since he seemed a McLaren guy through and through thats not fussed about Ferrari. Can only guess this is about performance

It makes less sense for him to stay. You're kinda incorrect on the timeline. The timeline isn't just this mid-season. They haven't been listening to him for 3 seasons. The battle with Max for the title he wanted them to develop the car in season and Toto said no. This is the 2nd year of the new regulations and they're only in 2nd due to Ferrari flubbing strategy so much and being inconsistent. The Merc engine is the worst of the big three and can't be developed until 2026 (This is a pretty big political play by Red Bull to get an engine freeze). They don't seem to want to follow Lewis' lead going forward. Lewis is literally in interviews saying it. They're currently being caught up by one of their customer teams in McLaren. Williams car design is apparently better than what the Merc engine can handle.

The midseason upgrades are a sign for who clearly understand how to improve their car. It won't get worse from here on out with McLaren. It's been two completely different tracks in a row and they're cooking. It's not short sighted for a 7 time champion to decide to leave a team who hasn't listened to him, or George, on how to develop their car and they're clearly losing ground. My point was he needs to go to a team that takes his input into account. Ferrari would be that team. Their engine is already cooking. They just need someone to point them in the right direction developmentally and it ain't Carlos Sainz Jr. or LeClerc. Ferrari historically have built very strong cars when they have champions in the stable.

Edit: Does anyone else remember the rumors back in March that Lewis was going to sign his Mercedes deal in a "few weeks"? It's almost August and he hasn't signed a deal yet. I'm willing to bet that's for a reason.
:ahh::blessed:

It was always F1 prophecy. The only question is if they're chasing a team championship or letting him cook for his 8th.

fukk that. 2024 may be the end of the road for me brehs?

(knowing full well that's a lie)

:mjcry:
I'm in it until Lewis hangs it up. After that I'll have to go back to sports car racing until somebody else worthwhile shows up.

As soon as they turned the w14 into a Frankenstein car I told my boy that there was no way Merc was going to have a winning car for the foreseeable future. Theyā€™re pretty much back to square one this coming season. I always said it wouldnā€™t surprise me if he left when the rumors started up last season cause heā€™s trying to win now. Crazy!

Looks like Mercedes had engineers already leave for Ferrari ahead of Lewis. Loic Serra was Mercedes' head performance engineer and signed with Ferrari last summer to start in 2025. Fred Vasseur pulling a masterclass.:wow:

Kinda bummed for Sainz but there will be teams looking for his help and he'll probably be the #1 driver for the new Audi project in 2026. I could see him at Mercedes for a year.

Well shyt, now i'm gonna have to take back all the shyt i said about Ferrari and their fans.

My main issue with this though is that.. even if RB and Ferrrari have equal cars for 24/25, Max is still going to win because Charles and Lewis and too closely matched and will just steal points off each other while RB already has a clear #1 driver. The flip side is that they should be able to win the WCC with ease because Checo is ass. Even if Danny goes back to RB, i don't see him troubling Max on Sundays.

Then off to Ferrari to shut down the Schumi stuff for good :ufdup:

ferrari is the #1 f1 team at the end of the day :manny:

I still reckon Lewis will be off to Ferrari soon

I would take that bet. Can't see it happening

not me. "two years ago" I said he should move to ferrari and cement his legacy with the #1 F1 team.
