Checo..... :francis: lost even more respect for him.

What else is he supposed to say? He's driving on a team that clearly doesn't have his back and he's supposed to kick the hornet's nest some more? The one driver in that team that could've and should've said something ducked and threw smoke bombs at Mercedes to deflect. I kinda feel bad for ole boy because this year he found out how far behind enemy lines he actually is right now.

All of them reporters let Max slide too then ran to Lewis for comment.

I dunno. I think that a millionaire has a few more options in life where his self respect isn't destroyed, but maybe he doesn't.

He isn't a young driver, he should have made his living by now.

Agree with you that F1 is at this stage worse than even the NFL when it comes to stuff like this.

Not sure it will ever change

This is a little disingenuous by you.

Checo is the victim in this scenario and you want him to give up more? He should give up a career because his team and teammates don't have his back? He already almost lost his career because Stroll bought the team that he saved. It's supposed to be his 250th grand prix this weekend.

Helmut should get kicked out the paddock at the very least, but instead Horner is claiming that he's actually not an employee of RBR so that's why RBR hasn't apologized which is horseshyt. Even if that's true they can tell him he needs to not be around the team. The institution is the thing that should make changes not Checo. This is still the same institution that didn't want Lewis to get #8 and all they did after that cheat job was fire the patsy.

Yeah, the bolded is elevated levels of bullshyt. Plenty of oldhead former drivers have been kicked out of the paddock, and they weren't technically employees of teams either.

Not at all. We can be catalysts for change or we can accept the status quo when it comes to racism. If we assume it will eventually get fixed it won't work.

The institution is rotten. So pointing out what they should or sh0uldnt do won't help. This isn't Marko's first or last shytty statement. It needs change and you either risk it all or acquiesce.

No matter how you frame it. Sergio chose the easier option. That's his choice, but he still needs to live with it.

What circumstances does Checo leaving change? He's not some big name they'd be forced to revisit how they work. He knows that especially considering his team is moonwalking on it. It would literally be a fruitless gesture on his part because RBR fans would start fist pumping because overrated Riccardo would have a shot at that seat again. There was no "easy" option in this for him. That's wild to even say. Either he stays in a team he knows doesn't have his back vs a clearly racist old man OR he leaves, possibly doesn't get a seat again ever, PLUS adding insult to injury there's literally still zero consequences for Helmut or RBR.

The media should be roasting all of them right now FOR Checo. That would change shyt very quickly vs just letting them get away with soft shoe answers.

All they gotta ask Horner is why Helmut is still allowed in the paddock if he doesn't work for RBR? And doesn't it seem like condoning his racism if this is the second shot at Checo and they still give him access? That's all they gotta do to force a change, but F1 media won't. This ain't even his first time taking shots. Remember he said Checo wouldn't mind the missiles because he's from Mexico City and they're shooting all of the time? Change happens because of allies and he doesn't have any outside of Lewis. His team's rival said more than his teammate and Team Principal did.

I do see your point, and maybe you are right and I am wrong. I still sometimes you have to do something drastic to affect change

I think we're both right. Checo is weirdly expendable to the fan base because he's at RB. There's a ton of low key racist fans who'd be happy to see him leave to take a stance because they get to match Max up with their weird fanboy favorite......they're also shytting on Yuki at AT too and I think that's race based too. If it was Lewis who left after that Masi shyt then F1 as a whole would be rebuilt from the ground up because they'd lose the most popular driver AND the most hated villain/foil, but he stayed.

To this day I wish he left and drove Daytona 24 hour, LeMan 24 hour, and the Indy 500. F1 as an executive team would've lost their fukking minds at how much visibility he would've given those other properties.

shyt was just about to get litty and Stroll put a stop to that promptly.
Lewis was probably about about to get bounced. 3 tenths down in S1 and had to ask if there was enough time for another (there wasn't). He made up time in S2 but whether or not he could keep it going in S3 was up in the air.
