He wasn't making an impression on the cars ahead and Lewis was breathing down his neck despite managing his tires. He had nothing to lose.
If you had the balls to take a chance at lap 12 on slicks it would have made for an interesting finish.

I had to go back and watch that Lap 1 stuff. Classic Max yield or crash situation, with of course Checo with everything to lose. Went in too deep and understated through the apex.
Yep. Checo on manners though so nothing will be done. That is Max's biggest weakness. It will lead to more and more crashes when other manufacturers level up.

I don't know what Strat he started in, but they had him go down into Strat 13 in the opening laps when he was about to jump George and Leclerc (I think), but George was going slow into Turn 4 and he had to back out of it. If he didn't get caught up in that then there would have been points today.

Pace was blistering in the wet with no DRS. Bodes well for a strong result tomorrow.

Going to be an interesting race between Lewis and Ferraris tomorrow.

Seems as if Ferrari has solved most of their issues with the latest upgrade. Mercedes still the tire management king though.

Side note: I think people still underrating Sainz. He’s been toe to toe(if not better) with Leclerc all year. That lap in Q1 of the sprint shootout was nuts.

Decent start from Lewis. I don't know how good the pace will be when they change strat.
