There are 3 dry tire compounds. If it doesn't rain, you have to use 2 of the 3 compounds. If you qualify 11th or lower you can start on any tire. Top 10 has to start in the tire you set your fastest Q2 lap on. Where you go from there depends on how your car behaves on tires, but F1 teams tend to converge on the same strategy as they run the numbers.How do they decide what type of tires they have to use?

I think they were running a higher downforce rear wing for those long run FP2 sessions and switched to a low downforce one for qualifying to try to get track position over Merc with pole. Max fukked up his mediums in qualifying yesterday.Still early guys. But based on what I am seeing Red Bull was bluffing on race pace in FP2
