Most overrated player in the world imo, he had a dogshyt of a World Cup too. Brazil doesn't have Madrid's defense or midfield (bar Casemiro) to save his ass time and time again, he fits in Madrid's system but not in Brazils. William too, when he comes off for Chelsea or doesn't even play is when they perform.

Anyway it's just a friendly, a match to test out future potential. I'd like to see Malcolm get some games

Gtfo calling Marcelo overated. Willian u may have a case and im a chelsea breh and thats only because he isnt a consistent starter.

Nah G, he had an amazing season last year with Valencia. He could walk into the first XI for many national teams.
Cool. Still not good enough to warrant this type of attention.

Man is one of the best LB's to ever play the game. And lol at this "system" shyt. He was on that trajectory since Pelligrini. :camby:

All of this only makes sense because Place of Birth country is more often than not better than Parent's Origin country. The natural order is Better, Birth Country #1, Worse, Parent's Country #2.

But imagine a dude born and raised in, say, England but his parents are Brazilian and he's good enough to play for Brazil. You think that dude's picking England because he was born and raised there? Or is he gonna choose being the starting striker for Brazil.

As time and migration gets more intense this is gonna happen sooner rather than later.

First team this is gonna happen to is USMNT (if it hasn't already). Some 2nd Gen Mexican kid is gonna be a superstar and he's gonna pick Mexico and the ESPN types are gonna lose their shyt lol

I don't think Marcelo and Dani Alves ever replicated their club form for Brazil. Marcelo in that 7-1 was just atrocious played like he had no sense whatsoever. If both of them even got to 75% of what they did for Barca and Real Brazil would have at least won one Copa America. The bigger surprise for me has been that a bunch of the players in that 7-1 returned, normally teams tend to do wholesale changes after such defeats

He’s a great attacker, but he's a leftback which means he has to defend, and he has zero defending qualities. You can’t put him up as one of the great LBs if hes useless defending, not even in a Madrid kit, Roberto Carlos sits on that throne

Been happening in the USA a lot actually. Johnathan Gonzalez. Born in USA to Mexican parents. Represented USA all through his youth. Pressure from his parents to play for El Tri and playing in Liga MX lead him to make a switch.

Efrain Alvarez same thing is happening to him. Is only 16 years old playing for Los Angeles Galaxy 2. So far has scored 12 goals in 16 games in the second division of pro soccer. He's highly highly coveted by both countries. Was playing for the USA, but after not being called up for a USYNT camp he made the switch to Mexico. He has said he is open to coming back to the USA though.

I believe in the last week 2 kids part of the Mexican youth system made the switch to USA youth system.
